Just wanted to update you guys.

I sent the dealer a e-mail with a link to this post, he couldn't believe how brutal some of you were to him:evil:

I've decided to keep the gun and get a fairly large chunk of money back.

I really started to love the little gun, and figured that I could live with some of the character issues just not for close to $400.

I'm now fairly sure that if need be i can get my initial investment out of the gun.

Thanks for your help and have a Merry Christmas,

Steve

looks like a really clean revolver that was exposed to some moisture (perhaps a non de-humidified safe) and not cared for appropriately afterwards.

Thanks for the encouragement.

Yes, I would say some of the newer rust was from 4 days in USPS care with the gun wrapped in bubble wrap in a plastic box.

I'm working on removing it and stopping the rust. I know that i'm going to have some white spots that will have to be cold blued though.

Yes, this little thing would make a great ccw gun, but that roll is currently held by my Glock 26. I don't see the Detective Special taking it's place anytime soon.

If I keep the gun long term(I don't have a good track record:D ) I may send it off for hard chroming.

Steve
