I am the proud owner of a .45 cal kit built Kentucky Rifle built 20 years ago by my father, and would like to get a kentucky pistol kit to go with it. I have checked Dixie Gun works and a few other retailers of kit and the only Full stock Kentucky kits i can find are .50...I am hopeing someone out there knows where I can find a .45 so i don't have to carry 2 size balls. Remember i am a poor college student so cost is an issue.

I second the Traditions kit. They're usually a very good gun. The kits are easy to build but require quite a bit of final wood shaping, which is normal to any kit. You might look into the Pedersoli line to see if the make a .45, but I don't remember seeing one.

Hey all new to the site and just read this thread and have a place around here that has black powder stuff pretty cheap. It is www.cainsoutdoor.com I just bought a .50 cal traditions kit from them and was very pleased with it and the service.
