Hey guys,

I was wondering if any current/ former LEOs or Military remember their Pistol Qualification tests. I'm trying to find out what distance they're shot at, which target(s) they use, and what the score rankings are.

Are they silhouette targets or bullseye targets, etc. Possible Score and qualifying score, etc.

Similarly I'd be happy with any information on target scoring and ranges that are also out there, like for target competition. Have been searching online, but not finding much.

Thanks ahead of time.

Thanks Leon, thats a lot of what I was looking for!

Unfortunately being a Southern California shooter, getting to a range that would allow all those tests, or just finding a nice open space, is difficult.

Best I can recall, in the USMC, 1956, we shot at about a 6-8 inch bullseye at 20-25 yards using the 1911A1. Shot Expert.

In the Army National Guard, 1965, we shot the 1911A1 at a 6-8 inch Bullseye at about 15-20 yards. Shot Expert.

As a LEO in 1960 we shot the 38 Special at bullseye. I don't remember the distance but most of the Policeman couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.

Back then all handgun shooting was done one handed.
