bds reason I asked about the High tech in .40 S&W was wondering if you had any input? Have one love it! But anyhow have a J.R. priced from a LGS (friend) sweet deal but was just picking brain. Now my choice will be .9/.45? wondering if I can get good distance etc. W/ a bigger cal. ? And is the .9 beefed up as much as the .45? If you watch their vids.? They're not in today. But will talk to before the buy! John. No Hi -jacking here wreck just a check of things.

That's the nice thing about JR carbines - you can change calibers with conversion kit.

I went the 45ACP to 9mm route as carbine prices were same for both calibers but the 9mm conversion kit was cheaper. ;)

That extra .2 gr of Promo made fair jump in the velocity. Any obvious accuracy notes?
I didn't think .2-.3 gr of Promo would have that much jump in velocity drop (~80 fps) but that maybe due to faster burn characteristics of Promo and other faster burning powders. In comparison, .2-.3 gr drop with HP-38 had less effect on velocity (~40 fps) - (chrono data difference posted on post #23 - http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?p=10193408#post10193408)

I will be posting pictures of comparison 50/100 yard shot groups in other threads to follow up.

Due to jmorris' comments, I did 10 shot groups this time and got tighter 50 yard "grouping" with lower powder charge loads but the overall "pattern" with flyers produced similar size boundries as my previous test.

I think based on various postings of carbine accuracy, they seem to average around 2.5"-3" at 50 yards (based on ammunition) regardless of caliber.

Good days we are living in...lol

Anyway i have some more tests coming next week too. Mainly accuracy with those three powders and might add in auto comp too. No bullet change until i get a load of planed 9mm round nose in.

I figured i test the coated bullet accuracy against plated under the same loads.

I do have a few of my cast bullets left i need to powder coat and size. They are Lee 120gr TC. Actually dropping a little heavy @ 123 do to lead mixture.

I also need a round bullet mold for casting. They feed better but Lee only has them in 124gr rn. So i might shake things up....lol.

Somewhere down the road im getting a HP bullet mold and casting some soft lead in them. The goal is not just target but hope to get some test rounds off in gelatin and see how they fair in the carbine at high velocities compared to pistol. Might throw in some gold dots loaded the same too. See what happens.

Btw...i too may do some 10 shots for accuracy. But until i get a scope on and sighted in i think ill forgo the long distance.

Im hoping 1.5" to 2" is possible. So goes the quest anyhow. I may look and never find but im gonna have fun trying anyway...lol
