I am looking for pistol instruction in the Central AL area. I would like to start with a basic defense class and work up to more comprehensive classes. This state does not require a CCW class for your permit so there are not as many classes here. I have not found any local yet. I would also be interested in eventually becoming NRA certified as a pistol instructor.

Does anybody know of Pistol courses close to Birmingham AL?
How much do these courses run?
    What do they generally entail?

What about Tiger's place? Isn't that joint in central AL?

O.K., Tiger's in Huntsville. Is that central? Ashamed to admit my ignorance of Alabama's geography. Anyone got a map?

    Here's Tiger's joint: www.shootrite.org

*edit* Oops, found a map. Apparently Huntsville is Nort, not Souf.

Worth the drive though. Tiger was an instructor of mine several times at Thunder Ranch-Tejas. He talked real slow, but was a very insightful instructor. :D

There is a training facility in B'ham (or was, a few months ago). If you attend the AGCA show in the BJCC this month (October), you can find them. If I can find the website, I'll post here. G'luck.

    Found it. Try http://www.alpistol.com/

I have no direct experience with them.

I know these guys have matches but I am not sure about pistol training (they are just west of Birmingham in Pleasant Grove):

They have a whole bunch of ranges for both pistols and rifles.
