Plastic Guns Suck

Hey tex if you would spend more time reading and less time writing you would see at no point have i said HATE i said they suck becuase they are eye sores. In that sticky the writer refers to using the word hate. :neener:

My son has a couple of friends who are reserve deputies.
He hated the look of the Glock until he shot one. It fit
his hand well, unlike his Beretta 92F, and he hit the
target center mass without much effort. That session
changed his feeling: they were designed to be ergonomic
not to look good. Glocks are not works of art: they are
self defense tools or appliances.

(My son has a ParaOrdnace P14 and STILL wants his
GP100 and M1911 back from me.)

The point remains the same. If you cannot undserstand that, I am sorry.

Glocks, Shmocks...

You know what I hate?

Puppies.

Yeah, I said it.

(Just kidding- I jus wuv dose cute widdle-biddy pups.)
.

That means I was "wrong" not hardheaded! But you are right you never said hate - that is your general "tone of voice". People have different opinions and you can't seem to understand that. No reason to start a thread about some of the most popular handguns sold unless you just want to stir up controversy. And there is no reason for that. As the great philosopher once said " Can't we all just get along?":)

I can't afford to spend money on "pretty" guns. I try to buy guns that work, and work well. If one is a pretty gun, good. If one of them is an ugly little plastic Kel-Tec, oh well. It has been my most reliable pistol yet. Piece out, man.

Im sorry to inform you guys but GOD owns a S&W 686 in stainless steel that sits next to the bed and he's packin a 1911 Goverment.

God's packing a 1911 Goverment because He's the only One that can get it to work reliably.:neener:

This is an comeback someone in the Glock camp could have made. Me, I'm strictly a 1911 guy, so I would never make such a comment. All my 1911's work flawlessly. <ducking head, watching for lightening> :uhoh:

Seriously, to me, a Glock looks like the box a nice gun comes in.

I don't hate plastic guns and i don't think that they are inferior. I just don't like them and i don'e buy them for 3 main reasons

1) I am not going to pay the same price for a plastic gun as i would for steel/aluminum. Plastic costs a fraction of the cost to produce and you don't have to do much machining on it. THEY ARE JACKING UP THE PRICES ON PLASTIC

2) I like to have guns that are astheticly pleasing and I don't find plastic that appealing

3) I don't have that much money to buy guns let alone plastic guns that i think are over priced and not that purdy.

But i have my eye on that used keltec p3at at the local shop for $185. It would make a perfect carry gun.

You know.....

When it is all said and done and it's the end of the day.....

The only thing that matters is what I like. Because it's all about me.

And there will always be a Glock in my collection (and a 1911).

I love "real" guns also. That being said, I carry a G23 It's sure easier to hump plastic around...

I always loved the SIG 226. I walked out the door with the cash in hand to buy one and ended up with the G23. The 226 has the most comfortable feel and grip (to my hand, anyway.) The G23 only slightly less so. I can get 'em off quite accurately and rapidly... just LOTS less weight than the 226. Plus, dripping sweat makes no difference to a Glock.

But in the bush for fun I still carry my ooollldd colt reeeevolver or my browning buckmark...

The Gospel According to John Moses Browning:
(As told to his disciple, Preacherman)

1. In the beginning was the 1911, and the 1911 was the pistol, and it was good. And behold the Lord said, "Thou shalt not muck about with my disciple John's design, for it is good and it worketh. For John made the 1911, and lo all of his weapons, from the designs which I, the Lord, gave him upon the mountain.

2. "And shouldst thou muck about with it and hang all manner of foul implements upon it, and profane its internal parts, thou shalt surely have malfunctions, and in the midst of battle thou shalt surely come to harm."

3. And as the ages passed men in their ignorance and arrogance didst forget the word of the Lord and began to profane the 1911. The tribe of the gamesman did place recoil spring guides and extended slide releases upon the 1911 and their metalsmiths didst tighten the tolerances and alter parts to their liking, their clearness of mind being clouded by lust.

4. Their artisans did hang all manner of foul implements upon the 1911 and did so alter it that it became impractical to purchase. For lo, the artisans didst charge a great tax upon the purchasers of the 1911 so that the lowly field-worker could not afford one. And the profaning of the internal parts didst render it unworkable when the dust of the land fell upon it.

5. And lo, they didst install adjustable sights, which are an abomination unto the Lord. For they doth break and loose their zero when thou dost need true aim. And those who have done so will be slain in great numbers by their enemies in the great battle.

6. And it came to pass that the Lord didst see the abomination wrought by man and didst cause, as he had warned, fearful malfunction to come upon the abominations and upon the artisans who thought they could do no wrong.

7. Seeing the malfunctions and the confusion of men the lord of the underworld did see an opportunity to further ensnare man and didst bring forth pistols made of plastic, whose form was such that they looked and felt like a brick, yet the eyes of man being clouded, they were consumed by the plastic pistol and did buy vast quantities of them.

8. And being a deceitful spirit the lord of the underworld did make these plastic pistols unamenable to the artisans of earth and they were unable to muck much with the design, and lo these pistols did function.

9. And the evil one also brought forth pistols in which the trigger didst both cock and fire them and which require a "dingus" to make them appear safe.

10. But man, being stupid, did not understand these new pistols and did proceed to shoot them-selves with the plastic pistol, and with the trigger cocking pistols for lo their manual of arms required great intelligence which man had long since forsaken. Yet man continue to gloat over these new pistols blaming evil forces for the negligent discharges which they themselves had committed.

11. And when man had been totally ensnared with plastic pistol, the lord of the underworld didst cause a plague of the terrible Ka-BOOM to descend upon man and the plastic pistols delivered their retribution upon men. And there was a great wailing and gnashing of teeth in the land.

12. Then seeing that the eyes of man were slowly being opened and that man was truly sorrowful for his sinful misdeeds, the Lord did send his messengers in the form of artisans who did hear and obey the teachings of the prophet and who didst restore the profaned 1911s to their proper configuration, and lo, to the amazement of men they didst begin to work as the Prophet had intended.

13. And the men of the land didst drive out the charlatans and profaners from the land, and there was joy and peace in the land, except for the evil sprits which tried occasionally to prey on the men and women of the land, and who were sent to the place of eternal damnation by the followers of John.

Amen

I love these threads. But hey, you guys collect guns. Admirable hobby. But when you work with one, all day, all the time, 12 hours or more a day, you come home, don't wipe it down and tomorrow do the same thing, perhaps "plastic" guns will make more sense.

Wear a 40oz. gun all day long and off duty, throw a radio, handcuffs, baton, keys, flashlight, surgical gloves, keepers, backup gun, knife, wallet, more keys, vest, spare magazines, frisk gloves, the list keeps going. Wear all that and somewhere you'll be looking to trim the fat.

Hell, not everyone sees the charm in a Dually Diesel truck either, but it's not meant for 9 to 5er's, it's meant for serious work.

When your ready to stop collecting and start working, you'll be looking at plastic.;)

ajax & the plastic guns

In reference to the word '-ate' (that I show as a bleep), and the fact that you never used it but were called out on it anyway; Is it any wonder that NEWS STORIES (reporters) get so discombobulated with facts getting in the way of a good story or debate ??

Plastic?? or Polymer

I do not own any plastic guns, al Blued or SS but I will someday hopefully have Glock in my collection. I want one as I have heard they are very reliable and can shoot and almost any condition. Are there really any TRUE plastic guns out there? I mean you couldn't get through a metal detector with a Glock. It would have to be Polymer or something I would think??
