I received the following from Google when I attempted to access the S&W forum. I hope the S&W forum web master will be made aware of this and take whatever action is needed to correct this.

In some cases, third parties can add malicious code to legitimate sites, which would cause us to show the warning message.

I've also received warnings like that. I complained to the owner, and he said he would look into it. Never heard back.
Every once in awhile still get the virus warning pop up with sirens, and all. Somethings going on there.

I think that the "somethings going on there" is at google, seems to me that I remember hearing that they are not too gun friendly, they are probably trying to scare you away from those evil "machine" guns that spill blood on the streets in the hands or responsible citizens.:what:

Stop, please, just stop. It's not some kind of anti-gun conspiracy. Declaring everything little thing that doesn't go right for a gun site as some kind of anti-gun effort just makes us all look bad.

Notice the last part:

The owner of the site needs to clean up whatever is causing this.

I visited the forum recently and have had numerous warnings from my anti virus software regarding a trojan horse fake something or other. I think there is a legit problem with that site.

They've been aware of this problem for some time (the forum owners) and haven't fixed it yet.

Ever since handejector took the site over from parabellum, the site has gone downhill anyway. I don't even log on anymore.

The last killer virus I got was entering S & W forum. About 9 months ago.
I'll never go there again. Has nothing to do with Goggle as far as I could tell.
Just a lousy web site.

I have gotten similar from a local gun range web site. Is usually cleared up within a day or two. Still confused about the "google.analytics" virus warning that I get on occasion.

Google is just the messenger. It detected malware on a web server and reported it. Servers get hacked all of the time, it has nothing to do with Google.

This has nothing to do with Google being anti-gun.

The web site is infected with malware or a trojan. You can see it in the web site code. The site owner doesn't know about it obviosly.

They have to delete the malware code then alert google using the webmaster form. Google will then remove the warning. (And they should also change their server password).

We had this happen to our web site (which is not gun related).

i hate Google with its SAFE SEARCH option, which I have turned off,
but put boob in my search and Google "safe search" is back on again!
so I have to use "BING" to search for my other intersts, that includes firearms too.
I hope Microsoft and Google never get together,
that would be the end of surfing the net freely.
something ro do woth our first ammendment right.

Ditto. Google's assessment of this site is completely and totally automated. The folks at Google don't have time to personally survey the couple of billion websites that are in Google's index. If the system is warning you of malware, it is because malware was detected by their web crawler.

If it is some anti-gun yatta yatta, it is far more likely that someone infected S&W's site with the malware than Google singling them out for scrutiny. This could just as easily be an inside job by some disgruntled S&W employee with server access as it could be a 3rd party attack.

It was the Brady's I tell ya! They're puttin trojan virsues and kernels everywhere on the web so's that gun havin' folk can't organize against 'em. Google's in on it with 'em and so's the CIA, NRO an DUH.

THR is next!

I use a MacBook Pro. No malware, viruses, or trojans here!
I've used Macs since, well, the Mac. I'm on a three year old iMac running 10.4 right now and I have a brand new MacBook Pro at work and I'm as big a fanboy as they come (memo to self: Take tomorrow morning off for the WWDC SteveNote).

However, Macs can and do get trojan-horse malware. Maybe not to the extent of Windows, but is out there. We'll leave the "Macs don't get viruses" thing for another board. Heaven knows we have enough problems with Glock v. .45 around here, we don't need a Mac v. PC debate on top of that. :D

And no matter what's on the forum, disabling your anti-phishing software to read a board, ANY board, is not a good idea. The seat belts and safeties are there for a reason, people.

Mac vs. PC debate is over. Linux wins. ;-)
On-topic though, I've actually gotten warnings when visiting thr too.

If you uncheck "block reported attack sites" under Firefox options you can get there.

You go right ahead and do that - to me, a forum just isn't worth the headache of running a full virus scan (which on my computer can take several hours).
