I used to work in a machine shop that had overhead gantrys. We used them for moving multi-ton castings from machine to machine.

There was this one guy that thought everyone was being ridiculous by actively avoiding walking beneath the cranes. Last I hear of him, he tried to stop the bar from feeding on a lathe, and had the 2" diameter stock driven through his hand.

This all reminds me of once seeing on Tv this guy who "allegedly" knew something about rhinos edging up to a cow and calf. (In the wild.) You could see the cow giving him the evil eye. Eventually he got too close and the cow trotted over and gave him a toss. Now you have to understand the bull has a big blunt horn for sparring with other bulls, but the cow has a slender sharp pointed horn for serious work. They said the guy spent two weeks in hospital contemplating the error of his ways.

to put the animal down. In my home town any animal that bit any person for any reason had to be put down by city ordinance. Some drunk idiot tried breaking into my parents house and my German Shepard stopped him. Didn't really do that much damage but drew blood and scared the bejeebas out of him. Next week the loser was walking the streets and my dog was dead.

I understand the concept behind putting the animals down. Should be a mandatory beating for idiots who cause the event by their own stupidity. The moron filed a lawsuit against my parents (I was a minor at the time). They won, eventually, but it was a real headache.

Cheetahs kill zoo-goer who entered cage

BRUSSELS, Belgium -- An animal lover was mauled to death by cheetahs after entering their cage at a zoo in northern Belgium, authorities and zoo officials said Monday.

Karen Aerts, 37, of Antwerp, was found dead in the cage, Olmense Zoo spokesman Jan Libot said. Police said they ruled out any foul play.

Authorities believe Aerts, a regular visitor to the zoo, hid in the park late Sunday until it closed and managed to find the keys to the cheetah cage.

"Karen loved animals. Unfortunately the cheetahs betrayed her trust," Libot said.

One of the cats that killed Aerts was named Bongo, whom the woman had adopted under a special program. She paid for Bongo's food, Libot said.

Animal rights group GAIA called for the immediate closure of the zoo, located 55 miles northeast of Brussels, saying it was unsafe for both visitors and the cats.


Rudy Demotte, the Belgian minister responsible for animal welfare, sent a team to investigate.

They are naturally quite afraid of people. I am betting that they shot the wolf because it was evident that the wolf had lost it's fear of humans and that there now was a possibility someone else could get seriously hurt.

But this one was in a F'n ZOO. That stupid idiot deserved what she got. This is just like the kid that was killed by the polar bears in the Bronx Zoo a few years ago. This kid climed the fence to go swiming in the "moat".

In the wild, if an animal attacks, that's one thing. But in a Zoo, it it totally different.

We need castle laws for zoo animals. If any dumb A$$es enter their "house", they should not have to retreat.

That is why those dangerous animals are in cages. If you over ride the safety measures in place to protect you, then you deserve what you get. I fail to see how this wolf biting someone makes it more dangerous than it was before. It's not like this was a cute cudlie pet that just snapped. Wild animals are dangreous, thats why they are behind bars, to provide a safe way for people to view them.
