Potential hazard from powder fire?

Actually metal containers are not a good thing for storing powder or primers(refrigerator excepted). If you have a structure fire near either the powder or primers you want time for escape. Metal containers transfer heat quickly and the powder can ignite or primers explode very quickly. A plain old wooden box is a much better storage device as it will insulate the powder until the flames burn thru giving you time to escape the home. IMO the best place to store your powder is in a wooden box in the basement if you have one. It's cool (good for the powder) heat rises in a fire so it probably would be the last thing to burn in a home fire.
