A buddy of mine bought a sporterized Mauser for deer hunting and wants to start reloading. Any 8mm reloaders here? Please recommend your favorite powders for the 8mm. Thanks!
48.0gr of IMR-4895 and 150gr SP bullets. Open sights, 100yds off a rest. First 5-shot group was low, second group opened up a bit but that was my fault. I was just trying to get the elevation adjusted.
Here's a link to the Realguns site for 8mm Mauser. These are not wimpy loads and should only be used in M98's in good condition. Remington's 185gr bullet was designed for their 8mm Rem. magnum with a heavier jacket, and may not expand well at longer ranges or lower velocities.
Here's another vote for IMR #4895, which is one of the most versatile powers. I use it in everything from .223 Win up through the 8-mm, including light bullet loads for 300 Win Mag. But for heavy bullet magnums, Win #760 or RL-22 are fine.
This is what works for me
150 gr, Hornady
imr 4320. 52 gr,
col is 2.948
this shoots 1/2'' at 100 yards all day,
I found this load.and never changed from it.why would I it shoots great out of my rifle.
