I was browsing the magazine rack at Walmart last night and came upon an article on the CZ P01. I forget which magazine it was, but they had some nice things to say about this CZ.

The Czech police had such high requirements for their service pistol that some companies bowed out of the competition. The mean failure rate the US military set was 495 rounds; the Czech set it at 500. When tested, the CZ P01 had a mean failure rate of over 2000! Meaning it only had 7 failures in about 15,000 shots.

The article also stated the CZ P01 passed many torture tests (which I'm guessing might rival that of Glock and HK). It was dropped repeatedly from 1.5 meters, then dropped from a height of 3 meters. It was frozen for 24 hours I believe, and so on I forget all the details. The Czech police also required a minimum service life of 15,000 rounds of +P ammo, but the P01 went through 30,000 rounds no problem, and still going strong.

The company CZ appeared to have set a new standard in making the CZ P01, which they hoped to be a service pistol par excellence to rival those of Glock, and HK.

So, you CZ P01 owners, be proud! I certainly would not mind having one.

That's good to hear. I have been considering the P01 as my next purchase, and with such a high quality rating coupled with CZ's fair pricing it sure makes the decision a little easier.

I just have to make it through this pesky little holiday season we have round' here.......:neener:

I just bought one, haven't taken it to the range yet, waiting for the weather to warm up a little..............also ordered my pancake holster for it, since it will be one of my carry guns............

The article is in the most recent edition of American Handgunner. Nice write up and great pics.

jem375,
Once you try this gun you will love it, It compares equally to my Sig 228 in every aspect!

Enjoy the P-01 I know I do!.

Jim

Some MIL moldel 75Bs had problems with extractor springs..that is
now not a problem.

The AM HANDGUNNER jan/feb issue is very complimetary on the P-01.
It ran like any CZ should run..100% with every load, but a load that'
would give any auto fits.

P-01s are even better with a few hundred rounds thru them to smooth
up the action, and Hakan Grips and Nites Sites for a more personal
touch.

The gun might not appeal to everyone, but those who own them
can't say enough good things:)

Sounds great!

Sounds like something I would look into. I want a pistol that I will still be shooting when I am elderly!

I would buy one but I already have a USPc 9mm that I have determined to be my go-to handgun.

If I was in a market for a self-defense compact 9mm right now I would choose this over:

Beretta 92C
Glock 19
Sig P239

Min,
After I got the P-01 and shot a couple hundred rounds thru it, I sold my USP9c, it just did not compare!

Can't fault you for the Sig choices though all are good, I still like my P228, but when my hoster arrives my P-01 will be my primary carry weapon.

Jim

jdrobins what did you not like about the uspc?

I like the cocked and locked feature and the fact that .40 compact mags also serve as 13-rd 9mm mags.

The CZ P01 is a fine gun, nevertheless.

Bore axis was a little high for me, and the grip was no comparision to the P-01, I did like the USPc it is a very sweet gun, but I REALLY like this P-01, and I (Wife) have a one in one out gun rule:(

Jim

I have handled the P-01 and I did find it to be a really cool pistol.
I already own CZs, so I know exactly what I would be getting.
I have two questions for those of you who have them.
Does anyone know of a steel replacement guide rod for them?
Also, I read somewhere that the trigger is made out of plastic.
Say it ain't so,

A buddy of mine is seriously considering the CZ P-01, so I let him shoot my CZ-75 compact (it's the closest I have  ) and he loves it. He also loves my Kadet Kit because he doesn't have a trainer pistol. Does the Kadet Kit work on the P-01 also? I know the P-01 is supposed to be an update on the CZ-75 PCR, but I don't know what is different. I'll let him know the P-01 got good reviews to help push him in the direction of the P-01, but I'm pretty sure he'll get it because I let his GF shoot the compact and she loves it ;) . Thanks for the report.

The kadet kit will fit the P01, the P01 is basically the same as the pcr but with an accessory rail on the front. Also pretty much the same as the 75 compact, but pcr and P01 have alloy frames....tom

Thanks! I'll pass the message on. He'll buy it. The GF kept saying "I like the CZ!" "Get the CZ!" at the range  .

Min, FYI you can get .40 cal mags for the CZ compact, PCR, and P-01 that hold 14 rounds of 9mm and fit and function perfectly with those guns. Promag makes them based on the specs for a planned CZ compact .40 that CZ never got around to actually manufacturing/exporting. Promag still sells the mags for $25.00 and Natchez is out of stock now but has them listed on sale for $11.88. I have a couple and will get more when Natchez gets them back in stock.

My favorite gun is the PO1's daddy the PCR. Same gun different frame bla bla bla....................Id take it over most others. The PO1's development was the PCR for the most part.....................

Shoot well..................

My understanding from above is as follows.
CZ 40 caliber compact mags will hold, what, 13 rounds and work with the P-01, right?
Two more questions for those of you who know more than me.
Will full size CZ-75 9mm Hi-caps fit the CZ-75 compact, P-01, PCR, etc.?
Will the compact 40 mags work the CZ-75 compact 9mm?
I have been thinking about a P-01 or a CZ-75 Compact, and this thread reminded me about that desire.
Thanks.

goon......there are no .40 compact/P01/pcr guns.......the fullsize 75B mags will work just fine they just hang out the bottom a bit......there are 14 round hi-cap factory mags that fit flush available for the compact/pcr/P01 series of guns, and they don't really cost that much, I paid around $40 a pop for mine for my pcr. If you get one of these guns ask around here and you will be directed as to where to get them. I love these cz guns BTW:cool: ......tom
