As the title states, I've got my eyes on an early 50s Colt Woodsman, 4 1/2" barrel. The bore is excellent, and it does have a Colt mag in good shape. Everything looks good, but I'd rate the finish around 60-70%, with some pitting and light surface rust on the grip frame, and thin bluing on the barrel. I'm guessing in mint condition this gun would probably be worth $700 to $900, but I'm figuring under $400 in the stated condition.

Your opinions? My safe is getting fairly full, so I don't plan on buying unless it is a screaming deal.

Prices on all Colts have gone up dramatically in the last few years. 60-70% finish is still considered GOOD condition. Looking through the auction sites the Woodsman Sports are selling for the $700's in the low end and up to $2000 at the high end depending upon series and condition. Maybe you can pick it up in the $400 range and more power to you if you can but you'll need a motivated seller who hasn't looked too hard at current prices.

A buddy of mines dad just died. He is selling off his guns and has a pre-war woodsman that I have only seen once for a brief moment but would say it is at least 70% condition and a local shop put it on gunbroker twice now with a buy it now price of $500 and didn't get a bid once...if that helps ya out any.
