I found a 4" S&W model 65, with the lock, for $425. Don't these usually run around $475 before taxes and fees? I think I'll definately buy this, both to feed my K-frame addiction and get one of the last available .357 K-frames made.....

Here's one NIB with no lock for $425.00

I would think this is a decent price (not anything to write home about, but you not getting a royal screw either) for a NIB 65. A 65LS 3" is usually much more expensive that the standard 65. A local shop has a new 65LS for $490 (before taxes & fees). Have seen very few new 65s lately. Used ones abound, but you have to be careful. Some look like hell but are mechanically as new. Some are so dirty and nasty looking you wouldn't believe it was the same gun after cleanup.

Taking a look at the original question - -

He's asking about a FOUR-inch, standard Model 65 - - Not a LadySmith, and not a three-inch.

357wheelgunner, you didn't mention the condition in your initial post. In the second one, you wrote:
No one here knows how much a current production 4" S&W model 65 is worth new?
Does that mean the one you're asking about is New In Box?

A new, key-lock M65 4" might very well be worth the asking price. Most people (on THIS board, anyway) would prefer to have the older model, without the key lock.

As suggested above, the shorter barreled versions tend to bring more money. There were a LOT more of the 4" guns built, and they were police issue for a number of agencies. This tends to keep the price down, unless you locate one in exceptionally good condition.

Best,
Johnny
