A friend of mine wants to purchase my model 36 for his girlfriend, the weapon is in good condition with a little holster wear on the finish and has wood grips, what do you folks think would be a good asking price?

Thanks for the tip but there doesn't seem to be one like mine on there currently, although I might be doing it wrong as I'm not very computer savvy but heres a picture that may help

That looks like a nice flat-latch example with diamond magnas. If it is in very good mechanical shape with a very good bore and cylinders, I would pay $300-325 for it. I paid about that for a Model 37 of similar vintage with slight cosmetic wear.

I'd say that between friends, $325 would be a good price. You could get more on an auction on a good day, but have to ship, etc. I'd say between friends, call it $325 and $350. I'd say $375 to $400 to a stranger via Gunbroker, etc.

Your revolver appears to be a flat latch round butt pinned Model 36 with the original grips, and in excellent shape.

I'd tell my friend to go buy his girlfriend something else and keep that little revolver myself.

$300? No way.
$400? I might consider selling, but still refuse.
$500? Well heck, I'll find another one some day..... Maybe....... Money's money, and pretty commonplace and easy to get. A nice old revolver like you have isn't. I'd still keep it.

Like Xavier said, that's not a common revolver and it's in very good condition for it's age. I would also buy it for myself and let your friend find a more current revolver for his girlfriend. Since she's a new shooter she won't appreciate what a nice old piece that M36 is anyway.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't partial to flat latch models of all shapes, colors, and sizes... especially the 3" Model 36 in the middle. :uhoh:
