Primer Prices

Saw some cci yesterday for $3.25 in the Springfield, Ma area. I wouldn't pay it! But...it may be coming to tht for some. I have ammo put away for the rest of my life time, thank goodness.

primers are a LOT cheaper when you buy them by the full unbroken sleeve of 5000. Every time the seller has to break them down to smaller packages - 5000 to 1000, then 1000 to 100, the unit cost goes way up

I would not buy less than 5k amounts. They last for decades and you are likely going to use them. They make good barter items with the local guys, too.

I paid $21 per thousand on my last purchase, that was the delivered to my door price.

$21/k??
You must have bought them back in 2007. :D

GT1-I haven't seen Federals, or any American made primers for that price in over 5 years.

Although I HAVE purchased Tula SPPs (Russian made) for that price as recently as Aug 2012.

It was a couple weeks ago from Widener's, and they were Russian rifle primers. :)

They are as good as any other primers I've used(CCI or Winchester).

I bought 20k small rifle primers from Widener's a couple weeks ago for around $21 per k, delivered.

Saw CCI primers at Cabellas yesterday for $37.98/K and Remington at $38.98. Cabellas doesn't exactly have the lowest prices in the area.

I bought 3000 CCI SPP for $37.99 per 1000 yesterday at a LGS. I usually don't buy less than 5K at a time but I left two boxes for someone else, these will last me a good while. Last year when I bought primers at this same LGS the CCI's I bought were $35.99 per 1000.

I posted here on THR but it was very early morning(I got the notification at 2 am), they were gone within an hour or so.

Naturally. :)

I picked up 10K Wolf SR primers in the latter part of 2012. I should have picked up some LR as well. I do have 1K Wolf, along with 900+ of Federal, and 2K to 3K Winchester, so I'm OK.

There's been only one store in my city in the past 6 months that has had primers on the shelves when I entered. I bought a few thousand at $40 per thousand.

The next week I went back for some other stuff...saw that they still had primers and saw that they bumped the price up to $60 per thousand. I bought another 1k at that level and I'm done until prices come back down.

I've got enough to last me for a while...especially since it's now fishing season...won't be shooting near as much.

I saw some CCI SPP and LPP at a LGS yesterday for $39.99/k. I ordered some Tula SPP back in January and after splitting shipping and Haz-Mat with someone else ended up getting them for $27.54/k (I ordered 3K). Wish I would have gotten more.

last I paid was $23/k for tula srp and lpp. and yes, that is with hazmat, shipping, and the electricity it took to make the order happen :neener:

powder valley early january.

I "invested" in primers over the last four years. There were some good sales of Federal at $20 per 1K at the local gun shop in 2011 and I bought some Wolf for $14 per 1K when Wideners had a sale.
