Some of you have probably seen this already. Bloomberg decided to make a group called Everytown for Gun Safety, which, knowing him, was obviously Everytown for Gun Control. Well, someone nabbed the Facebook page before he did, and made it a page about gun safety. Their banner is the 4 rules! Didn't see a thread about this so I thought I'd share.

I believe the phrase "Everytown" originated with H.G. Wells' "Things to Come" in the dystopian/utopian movie. (Kinda like "Erewhon" (Nowhere) in the Samuel Butler satirical novel, a stand-in name for a place not to be named.)

Anyway, I don't think Bloomberg could own the name "Everytown" by trademark or copyright.

I think promoting the four basic rules will do more for real gun safety that anything on Bloomberg's agenda. :)

I doubt Bloomberg has an issue with the 4 rules of gun safety.

That's great. If it's going to be his staple name, a lot of people will try searching that phrase first and get that. Hopefully whoever controls the page does some other pro gun facts/etc.

Ryan, I think they will be. For now I think they're looking at raising awareness and creating affiliate pages (i.e. one for each state) before Bloomberg can nab those.

Well...looks like Bllomburg

Spent some of that $50,000,000 to muscle the facebook page. Made it go away...that counts as shots fired, yes ?

This article is a bit confusing, but from what I surmise it was not Facebook that pulled the page. It seems that one of the people who originally created the page pulled it after some sort of legal threat.

Reed said he was still trying to get information on exactly what led to the decision to take down the page. A commercial pilot, he was in the air most of Saturday and was trying to catch-up on all of the details. However, he indicated that there had apparently been some kind of legal threat, but because of the late hour, he was having difficulty gathering information. The decision apparently only involved the main pro-gun “Everytown” page, not the scores of off-shoots.

From the Everytown for Gun Safety: Washington page:
Let me get this straight:

Former Mayor Bloomberg is attempting to outspend and take down the NRA, the nation's largest source of gun safety education and training classes, so that he can promote gun safety.

Doesn't make sense to us either.
Everytown for gun safety

The main Facebook page is now under Bloomberg's control, but they are taking a severe e-beating from pro-2a people. It probably won't last since they'll ban everybody when all of the minions are back at work tomorrow, but it's still quite funny.

EDIT: a new pro-gun page has sprung up, again. Looks like this will be an ongoing e-battle for at least the next little bit.

The scary thing is that ads for Bloomberg's nonsense have come up right here on THR between posts.

:cuss:

I was reluctant to click on it, but did so, and after a lot of folderol (no doubt capturing information on me) I finally got to a choice form asking why I did or didn't like the ad. No "Bullcrap" choice, so I clicked on "Irrelevant."

^Not a gyrojet, but a poorly researched artists depiction of what they a think a bullet coming out of a barrel looks like.
