Attention all Luddites, duffers, old school, geezers, crufflers, and cavemen that shoot. This week I launch a new service that will allow all those into technology to receive my weekly podcast show on their cell phone.

What is the Urban Shooter Podcast? It is my newest activity (going on weekly since February) to educate, entertain and enlighten old and new shooters that live in the cities about our gun rights. It's been pretty successful so far, got a few listeners from Canada and South Africa as well as the non CCW regions of the US. This show is especially for the techno savvy and the under 35 crowd. You don’t have to be left out though just because you have purchased and know and what a LP is. The shows are free and can be heard on your computer or downloaded to your iPod, MP3 player and now your cell phone.

Why am I telling you this? Because you probably have some influence some where. Somebody probably holds your opinion in high esteem. Those same people that have never listened to a LP or a 33 RPM record are probably into iPods, MP3’s and podcasts. Point them to the Urban Shooter Podcast so I can help the young at heart learn about the right to keep and bear arms, and the rights, traditions and freedoms we hold so dear.

I also looking for input too. If you have a feature, or info that you think would work well on my show, call me at 301-637-5848 or email me at [email protected].

"Black man with a gun? I thought they locked all you guys up." haha

Enjoyed your podcast. Especially about the gun buyback in Chicago.

Good to Know, the MD pro RKBA scene gets awful lonely sometimes. Working in B-more We have to not only put up with the traffic and crime, but the anti-gun crap too, I know there are a lot of good RKBA folks in MD, Ill do my part in getting the word out

Kenn,

I have been subscribed for sometime in iTunes, but the last show that they show is back in February so I didn't think that you were still updating.

Edit to add: Kenn, I was subscribed to BMWAG on iTunes instead of The Urban Shooter. if you go to the webpage that you have linked to this thread and click on the iTunes link it still takes you to BMWAG. You might want to have that updated.

Pro-Gun Podcasts

Some day I'll graduate to an iPhone. Besides the pro broadcasters like Big Tom Gresham there are some new folks I want to introduce to you.

Back in the day we used something called bulletin boards (BBS). Several pro-gun geek types operated and spoke prior to the internet on what was known as BBS. I can remember getting a loan out to buy an IBM computer with a yellow monochrome monitor and keyboard, 5 ¼ inch drive and a dot matrix printer. And I when I got a modem; “whew Lawd, I was in high cotton”. I think it was 2400 baud. Well that was then and this is now. The pro rights side is still communicating with vigor using the world-wide-web. Almost every gun club, grassroots group, state association or national organization has a website. The larger and more fixed organizations dabbled in radio and the NRA even has a media company. The newest communication device that works in addition to the website is the podcast.

The word itself is a combination of broadcast and iPod. Podcasting is a way of publishing radio and video shows to the web so people can subscribe to an episode automatically via a (MP3, iPod-type) player or listen through their computer. Through the subscription programs or aggregators that pick up RSS feeds; new shows can be uploaded automatically whenever available for free. Here’s why it matters, the future of our country know what podcast are. They download them to their iPods, cell phones and computers daily. When a person under thirty-five is walking down the street with those dread white earbuds in their ears they could be listening to a pro-gun podcast, the news, music or an audio book. You just don’t know.
At the current time there are four pro-Second Amendment podcasters I want to introduce to some and present to others. The first is the muse of the group, and has motivated and armed the rest of us with knowledge, information and mental support for trying something new. His name is Mark Vanderberg. He is the host of the Gun Rights Activist Podcast found on www.gunrights.us, Mark even has video you can watch to show you how to find other podcasters, record comments using your computer or start your own. The second trooper is a humble brother named, Mick Mcart’s that narrates excerpts from the NRA’s Armed Citizen. His podcast The Armed Citizen’s Podcast provides non-NRA types the opportunity to hear what we probably take for granted. Mick is also a great graphic designer that has provided buttons and graphics for the rest of us. His site can be found on www.armedcitizenpodcast.com. Number three is a newcomer to the grassroots fight but proof positive that what we are doing is working. She was a podcaster probably before we were but her love of firearms, freedom and humor has added her to our ranks. This Thirty Something young woman, known as the Urban Talk Queen or www.girl600.com has also created a show called the Gung Ho Gun Show found on www.Pinkrifle.com .

As we can a-test-to almost anybody can achieve some measure of success nowadays, whereas generations ago we moved more slowly and paid much more to get what we have. I am inviting you to listen to these shows, spread the word about them and help us educate and enlighten the future of freedom. We have a modest following probably composed mostly of other podcasters but also the growing number of iPod users. This type of activism is more accessible in the modern age, with technology helping to spread information.

My show the Urban Shooter Podcast (http://feed.urbanshooter.info) has become an extension of www.blackmanwithagun.com. It’s a weekly, listener supported show for law abiding gun owners that live in and around the nations’ cities. I took a love of broadcasting that was never fulfilled and having a ball right now interviewing all the people that have enriched my life since I become a grassroots activist. I mix the show with humor, what’s going on, commentary, gun safety, and marksmanship, and listener feedback.

Now that you know, come visit, listen, read, download and subscribe to what your fellow pro-gun podcasters are doing. Right now it’s FREE but who knows how long this boat is going to sail. I don’t think podcasting is going to remain as it is and when it catches on, we’ll be kicked to the curb. Big time podcasters have looked to the commercial radio model and have adopted advertising to help offset the cost of their work. But for the activist, it isn’t about money. And like Mark says at the end of his shows, “It’s not about guns it’s about freedom.”
