I just received my Glock 34 back from a professional gunsmith who did a lot of work on it. I bought the milled slide from OST, the RMR is a Trijicon RMR and the sights are Trijicon suppressor height night sights. The barrel is a threaded barrel.

I'll list what was done to it:

(1) Polish, hone and tune the Zevtech trigger system to amazing crisp break and reset (amazing trigger now).
(2) Cerakote slide after milling front serrations (Armorer Black color).
(3) Customized grip to my hands, built up backstrap, etc.
(4) Trigger guard work.
(5) Added the "gritty" material on it, a permanent application, feels absolutely fantastic.
(6) Large beavertail addition, allows for very positive purchase from the holster.
(7) New external slide release.
(8) Zev magwell was added to the grip (I had purchased it previously), with weight in the grip.

The thing is amazing now, and fits my shooting hand and support hand like a glove.

The guy who did the work is Bob Greer of:
Precision Custom Service
Hillsboro, Missouri
Phone: (314) 565-8458

It was well worth the wait.

Wow. Lot of work!!!
I hope you get many many years of good use out of it!

Surface covering....

Did you look into any surface treatments or coatings?
I like Metalife, www.Mahovskysmetalife.com . I plan to get it for my Glock 21 .45acp gen 04. It's highly rated & helps reduce rust, scuffs, nicks. Even with polymer or Kydex holsters.

Some like the camo & tactical colors of Cerakote. The new Kryptek styles are worth a look if you want a distinctive looking camo.

Bearcoat, from Rocky Mountain Arms is good too. It comes in a variety of colors(grey, tan, black, red, blue, etc). Bearcoat is highly rated & is applied to a few SWAT & LE weapons.
Cerakote is now very popular. Companies like www.blowndeadline.net & www.boresightsolutiions.com are well known for the applications.
Blowndeadline suggests adding the Armor-Clear coating as well to enhance the protection/performance. This thicker coating mix will not cause problems with a weapon's specs or tolerances. ;)
Note; Blowndeadline.net also offers a lifetime service warranty for the service.

Front serrations over the factory markings are kind of amateurish at best. That along with whatever they did to the untextured portions of the frame (looks like they were over aggressive with their prep work), and the poorly matched beaver tail make this home smith level work. I hope the barrel fitting (if its a fitted barrel) is better done.

Not trying to be a debbie downer but I would expect much higher quality work if I'm writing a check for it. Its all probably functional but looks to be amateurish in quality if the work.

There's a long backstory here. This thread is a good intro: http://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?158727-Professionally-Customized-Glock-34.

Additionally, this has the strong odor of a shill post, given that he's posted the same thing, complete with the gunsmith's name and contact info, on every firearms forum I've ever heard of, and then some, and on a blog as well. If the intent of all the posts didn't seem so baldly promotional, I'd just say "congrats" and move along. When it looks like you're advertising for a business, then that business's products are open to critique, as far as I'm concerned.

To me, it's like a street racer customized Honda Civic - a lot of money just to be "different". Nothing wrong with that, but it's still a Honda Civic. Mostly looks, minimal performance gain.

To each their own - I'd spend the money on ammo and range time.

Well, if anyone is wondering, here is a list of other forums he has been a member of and the end result.

I see he's banned over there. I wonder why. I noticed the comment that it looked like a melted bar of butter. I wish I'd thought of that!

Wow. Not trying to pile on or anything, but one must have to try very hard to banned from the CMP forums. Those guys and gals are among the nicest and most civil groups I've seen online.
