Proper range attire?

I usually just wear the cleanest pair of tighty whiteys I can find and duct tape my extra clips around my mid section. Sometimes if I'm feeling really tactical I'll wear my nifty homemade super tactical duct tape drop holster. And if it's too awfully cold outside I'll wear shoes.

At indoor ranges... it's a good idea to wear a shirt with a tight enough collar so hot brass can't invade.

Otherwise you may have to safe your weapon and do the 'hot brass down my shirt dance.' Which is tough in pointy cowboy boots.

I know because I have done this. And it wasn't pretty.

Outdoor ranges? Depending on the weather I'll wear all manner of oddball gear.. heck it's outdoors! I don't wanna roll around in the dirt in a Donna Karan suit that set me back 5 bills.

But I pretty much save camo for turkey hunting.

When traveling to the country in my Bentley for an afternoon of shooting, I always dress as a proper gentelman by wearing tweeds. Excuse me whilst I have Jeeves clean the Purdy shotguns as I sip a glass of port.....

(Pardon me.....do you have any Grey Poupon?)

My camo isn"t military and I only wear it when hunting.
I do have a boonie style woodland camo hat I keep in the range bag and wear when shooting. Mainly because they set this range up west to east and I need to keep the sun oput of my eyes without banging the bill off of the scope.

Since they won't let me go naked...

I just wear what I wear in every day life. A sports coat, yuppie shirt, slacks... I'm the best dressed guy at the range. It's kind of embarassing.

I remember this one guy that would show up to the range in BDU woodland camo pants, OD green shirt, black issue boots, some sort of tactical vest, and a boonie hat. One of the regulars asked him if he was a cop or something and he wasn't. We left it at that.

My typical gear is a pair of old jeans, some sort of t-shirt, boots, and some sort of hat (baseball cap or boonie hat). Then I'll bring a sweatshirt if I'm going to shoot with a shooting jacket on (highpower positions). I do like to wear something bright so when I go out to 200 yards, the rangemaster can still see me easily and not call a hot range while I'm out there.

The reason why I wear the boots is because it helps when shooting offhand, but recently, the rattlers have started to crawl up to the firing line, so that gives me some added protection.

When ever I go to the range I like to look my best. I don my all black BDUs, tactical vest from Black Hawk, black ski mask, combat boots, kevlar gloves, drop leg holster, 3 day assault pack, a bandolier of shotgun ammo (but I dont bring a shotgun :D ) , and my night vision goggles. People dont bother me at the range but I do get some strange looks at the 7-11 I stop at on the way home  . But really I do wear an old BDU jacket (woodland pattern) so worn you can barely make out the print because I like to keep loose ammo in the pockets weather permiting, a t-shirt, and jeans ( hot brass on the legs dont feel good ). The same as I dress any other time I am not at work. On a side note one shirt I do make a point to wear to the range if its clean is one I have that says "support the arts...shoot a rapper".

One day I'm going to put together a ghillie suit and low crawl all the way from my car to the firing line...

i just wear a pair of blue or black carpenter jeans, one of my short sleeved t-shirts with either a band design or something that says "you caint fix stupid" or "do i look like i care", and my old, starting to fade Winchester woodland camo baseball cap i got for a $1 at wally world. usually i wear black Magnum combat boots or brown cowboy boots. . sometimes the indoor pistol range is cold, so i wear my black leather jacket. people LOVE to see how fast they can shoot so i try really hard to keep the hot brass off. :D

I wear whatever is comfortable, and usually something I don't care to get dirty. If someone wants to come in a tuxedo and shoot a PPK like 007, more power to them.

I never check out what other guys are wearing. It just seems to ???? Girly?

I'm amazed

at how much guys care about what other guys wear!

I have a pair of black BDU's and I got comment after comment by dudes in Frisco....ooohh wait a minute....frisco...you know, here in Reno no guy has ever cared about what I wear.

I like to wear my green camo bdu's and I like to wear green tops to match...

I couldn't care less what people wear to the range.

I get irritated that some folks think we should dress or look a certain way to make gun ownership more acceptable. I disagree. No one should have to pretend to be something they're not, put on any fronts or facades.

The antis couldn't give a $^!* less what we look like or dress like. We aren't going to get them to agree with us by dressing business casual or in Armani suits. They hate us because we own guns. Putting on a BS front isn't going to change their minds.

All range attire should be black and say 'Molon Labe' in red lettering, which is Greek for "mellon lab".

I don't wear acu/bdu/dcu's unless i am at work, which is more often than not, When i am in the uniform 5 days a week and then on weekends sometimes for cq and staff duty. i take every chance to wear civilian clothes i can.

Who really cares what others are wearing at the range?

As long as there are other people present who enjoy shooting then I am thankful. I am fortunate enough to own enough land that I can shoot in my backyard. If someone I invite over comes dressed as a clown I might laugh, but I will be thankful to have another gun enthusiast beside me.

We already have enough negativity from OUTSIDE our ranks, do we really need more from within just because of what someone wears? Isn't that kind of similar to the "assault" weapons ban? You know, guns that looked dangerous. And before anyone goes off, my normal range attire is jeans and a T-Shirt.

I thought this was the High Road.

Keep in mind there are people out there who for one reason or another will never get the chance to live out that fantasy of theirs to be a .MIL/LE/.GOV operator and want to keep the dream alive. I know it is hard not to say anything, but maybe we can let them dress up and have some fun, this IS America after all.

they are proly wanna be hardcores. I'm an ex hardcore myself, but i say hey, whatever floats your boat. I go to the range in baggy pockets shorts, and a tank top. Its hot as hell in Houston right now.

I usually just wear jeans and some sort of polo, t, or even a sweat or button down shirt. Sometimes substitute khakis or BDU pants (usually plain OD) for the jeans. In the fall and winter a Carhart or M-65 jacket.

However, I really don't care what I wear or what the other guys wear, ;)
