Stuff like the safety slugs... is it possible to reload those? Do you need a special seating die? Where would you get the bullets?

I like the look of Federal's HPs with the spike in the center, can you buy those to reload?

For safety slugs (I assume you mean like Glaser, MagSafe, or the like) they would reload the same if you could buy the bullets alone, which you can't. The exception is the Fang Face Extreme Shock rounds. There are probably smaller companies that sell their own frangible bullets, but I haven't kept up with them.

As for more conventional hollow points like Federal's HPs, some companies sell them and others do not. Federal HydraShocks are not sold as components, but Hornaday's XTP, Remington's Golden Saber and Speer's Gold Dots are (were?), and Winchester Silvertips were when they were being produced.

If you have a more specific application in mind we can probably help more.

I want to assemble some unique stuff for my .40 USP. You assumed correctly I would like to reload frangibles if it's possible. I'm also curious about any interesting projectiles that are legal and out there.

Fang Face Extreme Shock rounds

Oh my god, there are so many things that come to mind every time I hear that. I think they had a naming contest at the Special Olympics for those rounds, then they let the r-***** pick the price too.

Gold Dots bullets are still on the market.

All my "fun" loads are for revolvers and rifles, sorry I can't help with a semi.

Trueblue, I see they're still for sale. It was sometime last year something came up where Speer was going to stop selling Gold Dots as a component, even to Black Hills, BuffaloBore, and whatever other companies loaded them in their ammo. I see that hasn't happened and haven't heard anything new.

The face of it does look pretty fangish. "Anti-terrorist" round they advertise, what a joke - I don't like the name or terror bandwagon advertising but they did beat up some gelatin pretty good.

Thanks for the links PotatoJudge.

That test he did does not make them seem very appealing. I think I'll stick with 180 gr Hornady HP-XTP for reloading and buy a couple boxes of Glasers.
