Some the Marines from my unit did a good job yesterday. (Mods, I know this isn't exactly related to firearms, but they're Marines, and well, Marines use a lot of firearms, so maybe you'll let this one slide...) Make sure to check out the video.

RACINE COUNTY - Three local Marines came to the rescue Thursday after a big rig and truck caught fire on I-94 near Highway G in Racine County.

The driver of a truck towing a small trailer lost control in the southbound lanes. The truck was hit by a car and a big rig and caught fire. Six people were injured, but no one was killed in the crash.

Three Marines from the Milwaukee Marine Reserve Unit were traveling to Chicago when then came across the crash and jumped into action.

"When one of your fellow citizens needs help, you help them," said Gunnery Sgt. Paul Norman.

With flames 10 to 15 feet high, the Marines pulled over and ran toward the burning wreckage. Two of them have served in Iraq.

"It sort of felt like, sort of like Iraq explosions, but that's about all," said Lance Corporal Jeremy Burnside.

They got as close as they could to the burning vehicles and looking for victims and directing traffic. With the help of a few other witnesses, they helped pull one man to safety.

"He was laying there and they were worried about him being injured until we moved him, because he's better off a little bit more hurt than dead," said Norman.

What the Marines did was brave, but they say it more like just another day at the office.

"We're not heroes. It was our job," said Sgt. Gregory Johns.

A job they take to heart.

That's pretty much what everyone should be doing. If you see an accident and you can offer assistance, they should offer assistance. If they can't offer assistance, get out of the way and let the people who know what they're doing take care of it," said Sgt. Norman.
