I've generally been under the impression that stainless Ruger Blackhawks have the heavier steel grip-frame and ejector-rod housing, while the blued models have these parts made of aluminum. When comparing the weights given on the Ruger website for the 6.5" .357 Blackhawks, I found that they are both supposedly 48 ounces--meanwhile, blued .45 Colt model is five ounces lighter than its stainless counterpart. Does Ruger make the blued .357 Blackhawk with the heavier steel parts, or is that an error on their website?

I have BH revolvers from 1979, 2005, 2006. All have alloy grip frames. The two newer are 4 5/8", 41 Mag and 45 Colt. The 45 Colt is lighter because the barrel is same outside but bigger hole down the center makes it lighter than the 41. The book says they weigh the same, go figure.

I suspect that the weight listed for the .357 is a 'generic' weight, and they don't list weight for each variation.

You are correct, though, the stainless models have a stainless steel grip frame and ejector housing.
