I have a gun being sent to my local FFL.

It will get there during the day when Im at work and I always
get delayed 1 day when doing transfers.

He is closed when I get off work, so here's my question.

Can I fill out the 4473 on a Saturday and have him call it in during
the week?

It would save me from trying to get permission to leave work 2 days
in the same week.

He has done 2 other transfers for me in the last few months.

Thanks Jimmy

Seems like your FFL would be the one to ask- he may not do it even if legal.

1) if you "always" get delayed, do a VAF and get a upin
http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/nics/appeals/nics_vaf_brochure_eng.pdf

2) you must sign the 4473 in the presence of the FFL, at his place of business

3) the 4473 can not be completed/called in until the gun is there (need the serial number)(yes, I know that makes little sense, but that is a question I put directly to the ATF when i got my FFL)

perhaps you need to find a new FFL with hours more convenient to YOU.

To complete, yes. To do the background check, no.

Problem the OP faces is the 24 hour window on a BGC. If he is not delayed, or if the gun arrived late, he'd have to do it again.

Sorry, but you're just gonna have to be patient.

All of this nonsense because "shall not be infringed" is just too many complex words for the Govt. to understand.:what:

I don't know where you are so it will probably be different, but here in SC there's no background check needed if you have a CWP. So I fill out my part of the 4473 online and my FFL dealer fills in the gun section. When I go to pick up the gun I sign it and we're done. We spend way more time talking guns than the transaction takes.

It has to be called in, or ez filed as soon as it's filled out. We use the computer to file it, it's a lot less trying to understand a not real clear speaking person. And I am pretty sure it's good for 10 days, as long as he doesn't click on new. Then when you do come back to get it, he can click on new, then you'd have to sign and date the bottom of page 2 on your 4473, boxes 24&25. My .02 worth.

Joshua M..... it's a lot less trying to understand a not real clear speaking person.
FBI NICS customer service reps are the easiest to understand folks you will ever have the pleasure of speaking to on a telephone.

If you cannot understand them, then English isn't your best language.;)
