Hey guys,
I picked up a like new Colt 1991a1 yesterday and so far it is great. I have been kicking myself since I traded off my old one. Anyway, when detail stripping weapon to do a thorough cleaning job on it the firing pin plunger and spring came tumbling out and now I can't find the spring. However, I did find the following from a thread back in '06.
In light of new members comin' in who want to know what the differences are between the Series 80 Colts and the original design 1911s...

There are 4 additional parts...two in the frame and two in the slide.

Frame: Trigger bar lever and plunger lever.
Slide: Firing pin plunger and the spring that drives it.

I've also read on these boards about people removing the series 80 safeties. My question is will this affect the function of the weapon? I've done the function test a couple of times and there seems to be no ill effects, it cycles dummy rounds fine, and I've also done the trick where you drop a pencil down the bbl and pull the trigger, sending the pencil flying.

I haven't shot the gun yet, and don't plan on it until the weekend, and that is not until I hear about whether or not this will affect the gun. If it does matter there is a place locally that will most likely have the spring I need, so that is not a big deal.

Thanks in advance for the help. I am glad to be back in the prancing pony club.
Maurice
