Has anyone else heard the rumors that Weatherby is bringing back the Vanguard Deluxe rifles? There are several references dated in February 2011 in Google that state that Brad Ruddell, Weatherby's VP of sales, announced that they were bringing it back in 257 WBY MAG, 270 WIN, 30-06, 300 WIN MAG, and 300 WBY MAG. High polish bluing, rosewood forearm and grip caps with maple spacers, so they look just like my Mark V Deluxe. ( I realize it is a different action.) According to the reports, these rifles will have VGX serial numbers which means they are sub MOA. Suggested retail price is $969.

If I am not violating any rules, one of the references is from www.gunreports.com. I am not familiar with this website so it may be bogus.

My issue is that there is nothing on the Weatherby website listing the model and there is no press release dated in February. I have been looking for a 30-06 with high polish blue and nice wood for my brother. I had been looking at the Winchester M70 Supergrade, but I would really rather have the Weatherby. I found one at the Hamburg, PA Cabela's used for $850 with a good crown and nice rifling but some dings on that oh so beautiful stock. As always, I thought the price was a little high. For $120 (if I pay retail), I would definitely buy new. I may buy two because now I have the itch for one.

Anybody with any inside information? I would love to hear whether anyone else has confirmation of this enticing rumor one way or the other. As always, thanks in advance for any replies or information. Wishing you all safe and accurate shooting.

I have not heard this rumor. I would think if it was true there would be some talk of it on weatherby nation. I have a Vanguard deluxe in 270 weather by mag from 1983. The stock is almost looks as good as my MK V stock.
