I've shot just about every kind of bulk ammo, it all seem to function fine and will ring a 6" gong at 50 yards but I've never bothered to measure the groups.

With 22LR being as difficult to find as it is, anything you can send would probably be appreicated.

Sorry... I got nothing...I just saw: "47 views. no replies. Thanks guys," and was lured in by the dripping sarcasm.

Seriously though, 22lr is still pretty tough to get. If someone were to give it to me as a gift I would be very greatful. I say go for it.

keep an eye on gunbot.net you can find some decent deals on there...also MidwayUSA has some differnt things that are "backorder ok" if you want to order and wait.

EDIT:

I do not know what would be best for the Sig522, but I do know that CCI Mini-mags work the best for my Sig Mosquito, of course, I have only tried Winchester M-22, CCI Velocitors, and CCI Mini-Mags.

Ask him he got different springs that he can change based on the bullet type, if so, the bulk box maybe fine considering he can put the weaker spring in to cycle the chamber if it is needed (if he gets alot of FTE)

It all depends on what the gun likes. Each gun is different to a degree. I had two Mossberg 44s, the GI rifles, that would shoot one hole groups at 25 yards with cheap, at the time, Federal Lightning. That ammo won't cycle my Ruger government model. Buy several brands and try them. Just because it says Target ammo on the box, doesn't mean it will shoot well in your rifle.....chris3

I have 2 of the 522s and I have never had any malfunctions with the several brands I've tried. Mini-Mags, AE Hi-Vel 38gr, CCT tactical, Thunderbolts, CCI Standard, (yes standard = zero malfunctions) All in all they are the most dependable semi auto .22 I've ever shot.

I guess that you would prefer that folks who do not have an answer to your question would just throw out whatever BS is in their imagination? A little gratitude goes much further than sour grapes. As for an answer, I have neither a Sig522 nor Federal Auto Match ammunition so I think your parameters probably shrank the exposure pool to about 1% of the membership.

So does sarcasm ...

... I do agree tho that asking about any specific gun and specific ammo will limit your pool of knowledge considerably.

I already answered but as to your question about auto match. Both of my 522s handled the auto match very well. Only shot about 100 rounds of through each of them but it was flawless. YMMV

I do not have a Sig 522, but the Federal Auto Match not only feeds well, but also shoots very well in my .22s, both rifle and pistol. It shoots four times as well, group wise, in my guns than the standard federal bulk box. My wife's new .22 AR with a CMMG upper just ran through well over 325 rounds with no misfeeds other than the few times it caught an empty case before it cleared the ejection port. Even then the fresh round was partway in the chamber.

It's good ammo in my opinion. I just started on my second case of 10 boxes.

I've seen no ammo sensitivity in ours other than Remington Golden Bullet bulk pack which is not good in our 10/22 either -- too many duds, blown rims, and rounds that "fold" instead of climbing the feed ramp because the bullet is loose in the case.

We've shot 1000's of rounds of Federal bulk pack, Federal Champion, & CCI Blazer -- quantity has a quality of its very own when shooting steel plates. I quit buying the Remington Golden Bullet long ago but had some left that I tried in the SIG522 where it didn't work any better than it did in the 10/22 or Spike's Tactical AR22 upper.

All Federal bulk ammo has been up and down for me in the past two years. Things have really never gotten back to normal since the first panic/shortage. There's just no way for me to tell you whether that ammo will work well in that rifle. First and mainly every rifle is different. Even if it's the same model as another rifle it will like different ammo more. Second we don't know the ammo you're getting and how well it works lately. I shot Federal bulk for about 20 years then all of a sudden it got to be crappy. I don't know if they've got it together recently. There just isn't enough ammo around to find out.

All you can do is try. If that ammo doesn't work try something else. I've had more luck with CCI Blazer as far as bulk goes over the past 2 years. But the last year I've not seen any Blazer at all.

So people aren't giving you the cold shoulder. They just can't answer your question in the situation we're all in. Just be thankful you have any ammo at all. If you've had it a few years chances are it's good ammo. If not then you will find out when you try it out. Sorry but that's the bottom line.
