I loaded up a box using 91.0 GRAINS OF Ramshot MAGNUM & Its throwing my 180 grain bullets every where but the bullseye . I have been told that the Hodgon RETUMBO is one of the best powders for the Ultra Mags . Guess i i am going to buy me a pound & see the Ramshot MAGNUM isn't working it groups good at 25 yrards but at 100 yards the bullets are every where but where they shouls be on the bullseye . Let me know if this has happened to anyone else with any of the powders

What bullets?

Have you cleaned the copper out of the bore?

What caliber/cartridge?

What rifle?

What Optics and Mounts, are they tight?

Has anyone else shot these load beside you? Big thunders like these can cause a flinch or two.

If your loading for a 300 RUM, I would highly suggest giving H-1000 a try. It shoots wonderfully in my friends 300 with the 185gr Berger. He has shot quite a few 1" groups with it out to 300yds when the wind cooperates.

I use Magnum in several other calibers but nothing with that capacity.

A lot of folks have had great luck using RL-25 but it was noted that quite a few of them had pressure spikes when the temps rose above around 85 degrees. This was also the case with my friends loads as well.

Retumbo actually gave him the best overall velocities, but it also got a bit peaky with temp rises. It however never did get close to the accuracy he is getting from H-1000.

I would suggest a good copper remover before another powder. Those ultra mags really strip the copper down as the bullet flys out at super speed. My 338-378wby (with certain bullets) will shoot 1" then after 4 shots, shoot all over, like 4-5"! Most all powders will shoot good with the magic load, but some are easier to find the magic load for.

friendly helpful hint: follow through with your threads so we know what you are talking about instead of starting a new one

Yes i did clean the bore out & still the Speer 180 Gn SP 's shoot great at 25 yrds but out to 100 they are hitting everywhere but the bullseye & i have already backed the load from 94.0 to 91.0 because of the primers showing "Puddling"& they still are showing a little puddling just not as much . I think that i may go to the RETUMBO by Hodgon they say it was made espeically for the Ultra Magnums . I am using a SWIFT Premiere 6x18x50mm.
