Whos got one (or more) and do you use it or is it a pretty thing to look at?

Right now I own 8 different ones... mostly #1's (3), #2's (3) and a Triathalete which I do carry daily. Oh yeah a model 11. I've given my Dad a #1 7"(stag grip), a #2 7" and a #2 5" (it's soooo cute).

So who here is crazy like me?

Quality?

The few I've got and the others I get to fondle from time to time are all equal to the few custom made knives I own, better than some.

Of course I only own a couple of Dawson, Draper (Bart & Kent), Bardsley and Chris Reeve for comparison sake.

A simple tool, well designed and crafted.

Two of my uncles carried #1's while in the Marines back in the 60's and while their knives show heavy use, they've still got them and use them upon occasion. Tho' I know my cousins await eventually receiving them, they've said they'll not use them.

Instead, they got their own new RMK blades.

Probably have 16 or so in the family, counting uncles, cousins, dad's and mine.

The Kabar typically gets the nod when I go camping tho'.

Just a bit of trivia, but I think I remember Gary Powers was carrying a Randall when his U2 was shot down by a SAM over the Soviet Union in the '60's. ~And a Swss Army Knife too. I think the SAK was called a "CIA weapon" by the Soviets.

I do not use the 18 or the 25, but the little Utility is very handy and the Thrower is elegant and fun to throw.

I reserve the hard use to the Blackjacks that match the Randall 5 and 7 inch knives. Since Blackjacks are getting so expensive I may need to hold the unused ones I have and look to someone else makeing great knives and selling them for too little money.

For those that ask are the Randalls worth it - Probably. There are knives that will do what they do as well as they do it for half the price and there are knives that are as good looking and of the same quality for the same price, and sometimes less, money, but the Randalls will do the job you ask of them while looking great all the while, and they are Randalls after all.

Guess I would have to say me too. Model 18, various Model 1s - usually in stag handle with nickel silver fittings , a "fat" white Micarta handled, nickel silver and SS Model14, a stock Model 15 and have another Model 1 and Model 24 freshly ordered. Due date for arrival is June of 2006. I would eventually like to have a Randall Bowie, just for display.
As far as the quality goes, with the exception of sharpening they appear to be as well made as always. Last summer Jason Randall brought the edge on my model 15 up to snuff while the missus and I looked over all the goodies in the museum.

I only have one Randall left, its a 1956 brass back Smithsonion Bowie with a Heiser brown button sheath, both are mint. I have never used them, I oil the knife and look at it and put it back in its zipper pouch. I have owned many Randalls and sold them and I may sell this one. All the others I have owned were made in the early 60s. They are BEAUTIFUL WORKS OF ART. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL. Jim
