A while back, in a fit of apparently having too much money in my bank account, I ordered an AT92C (turkish clone of the Beretta 92), FNX, and 5906 at the same time from CDNN. I had made a quick previous range trip, but didn't get to spend much time. Today I took all three out for a nice long extended range trip, put 150 rounds through each.

Not much point in posting target pics because my shooting today was just mediocre. I kept my shots with each inside of a 6 inch target at 7yds. Not my finest day, but not awful I guess.

Anyway, thought I'd report back, especially on the AT92C as I have seen very little written by actual owners of the AT92C's. The AT92C was fantastic. Zero malfunctions with the stock mag, and zero malfunctions with the cheap free mags CDNN sent with it (which was surprising, I expected them to not work at all. still would not trust them for anything but range use). All controls worked very smoothly, and the trigger was very decent in both SA and DA. Being a 9mm, it is of course comfortable to fire. In short, it does not look, feel, or shoot like some cheap clone. It's as good as the real thing. I actually enjoyed it the most of the guns I bought out today, and I'd say that if you want one, pick one up without any fear.

Now on to the 5906. When I had first received it, the decocker/safety was VERY stiff, but once I had cleaned and oiled the gun, it smoothed out. At the range today, it really smoothed out, and now works as easily as the decocker of the AT92 did. Zero malfunctions with the stock mag, zero malfunctions with the mec gar mags. Recoil was pretty low due to the 17lb weight of the gun (yes, that's a slight exaggeration).. but the most surprising thing was how good the trigger was. I always heard bad things about the 3rd gen smith triggers... but, um, that doesn't apply to mine. SA is pretty light, and the travel is very, very short. The reset is also very, very short. DA was surprisingly good and not too long. I was able to shoot the 5906 better in DA than I was the other guns today. Good gun, better than I expected, not sure what else to say about it. Still surprised that, apparently at one time, Smith knew how to design a trigger for a semi-auto that doesn't suck.

Ok.. now onto the FNX. Here is where things got ugly today. Having read about the FNX issue with firing in DA when hot, I decided to get the gun nice and hot, then try to shoot it repeatedly in DA, to see what happens. Mother of god. It WILL fire in DA... but it's extremely difficult to make it do so. It's not even a matter of the drastically increased pressure at the end of the stroke. It's that you need to apply that pressure for about 2 full seconds before the frakkin hammer will drop. :fire: Totally, absolutely, positively unacceptable. Will call FNX next week and get it repaired.

In SA, everything works fine and the gun is a delight. Feels great in the hand and is very light, recoil is super soft. In fact, it was even softer than the 5906, despite weighing probably half (or less than half) of what the 5906 weighs. The aggressive checkering that feels crappy when just dry firing felt completely fine at the range when you're actually shooting the gun, so I'm now a little less angry at FN for changing the checking over what the FNP had. The big arse front sight is nice and easy to see in the dimly lit range too.

I'd be happy with the FNX if DA worked properly..

im happy for anyone who can afford to buy not one but THREE new pistols at a time, though sorry to hear about the fnx

however, to properly communicate with you regarding your pistols i believe we need to see some pics.

i think i speak for all of us here :)

NO WAY! I had the exact same thing happen with my FNP 40 when it was hot out. (105F, plus your typical IA 90% humidity) :) With mine, however, the gun would literally not fire in DA. Sent it back to FN, and they said that there were "microscopic cracks in the trigger assembly which widened under heat to the point of causing malfunctions". Their words, not mine. It's due to arrive back in about a week. Send it back and tell them that you've heard of other guys having the same problem. Quite frankly, this shouldn't happen with a "military grade" pistol.

The AT92C was fantastic.
The local small gun store got in a couple ATI 92C. I liked the looks and price, so though I'd take a chance on it. They are indeed "fantastic".

I liked my first one so much I bought a second one, then a third.

Three people that shot mine have bought them. One lady bought two. Her brother bought one and her other brother wants one. My friend bought two.
Another lady is talking about getting one.

They are the best seller at that gun store.

If you research it a little Turkey is making some top quality guns.

I am a Beretta fan, owning several Berettas, including a very nice 92. IMO the ATI 92C is every bit the gun the Beretta is.

A friend has one and I was really impressed with it. Looks exactly like the one in the pic above. I would have to agree, it appears to be equal in every important way to my real 92FS.

The 5906 I have definitely has a better trigger than the 6906 IMO. The 6906 after a DA shot fools me occasionally by making me think the weapon is jammed due to the long trigger pull. Only time that it really fools me is after shooting the 1911 or the 5906. So far neither has had any problems or FTF but it is amazing the difference in the action of the triggers. BTW congrats on the purchases. I to have kinda been looking at the 92C glad to know it works.

M2 Carbine, I believe you were the one who convinced me to give the AT92 a try. Thanks :D

Just finished pinking with the gun in the back yard.

Ran a couple magazines through it just target shooting. I had to shoot at only 10 yards or lose too much of my brass in the grass.

Then I ran four magazines through the gun playing two in the body, one in the head, more or less.
If the body shots don't stop him, shoot his eyes out.:D

This is the last target. I do like this gun.:)

Yes it does. One of the reasons I bought the ATI is I had a bunch of Beretta mags.
The mag in the above picture is a Beretta military magazine.

The only thing I've found is the 4 civilian mags I got with my Beretta 92 won't lock the ATI slide back on a empty magazine. Of course the ATI mag works fine.

BTW, this is my Beretta. Nice shooting gun. One thing I like about it is it ejects the brass right beside me, making for easy pick up.

Old Thread I know, however...

Just had to post this short review. Wow!! Could not be more pleased with this ATI AT92 (actually, and this is a mouthful, A MKEK Girsan Yavuz 16 Compact MC) I recieved this pistol from my FFL this past Saturday. After very minimal cleaning (did not really seem to need much) ran 100 rounds of Mag-Tech and 100 rounds of PRIVI thru it with absolutely zero problems.

I realize this pistol is made in Turkey. If you did not know this, you would swear that it was an Italian manufactured Beretta 92f Centurion. (by the way, all steel guide rod and trigger) Mine came with 2 15 rd. Beretta mags.

Just thought I would let you guys know. CDNN has a few of these left. As far as I can tell, there will probably be no more of these coming into the country. Once they are gone, they are gone.
