Brian Pierce, writer in Handloading, often recommends this particular cast bullet for 45 Colt. At this point in time I do not have the time or motivation to cast my own.

1. Does anyone cast and shoot this bullet, and if so what is your opinion?

2. Does anyone know of a source where these could be purchased?

RCBS 45 Colt SAA bullet

I ordered some from Mt. Baldy Bullets, P O Box 835, Cody, WY. 82414.
Phone # 307-754-5255

Sized and lubed they weighed 285 gr. I loaded some over 8.0 to 8.5 grains of Unique in my Ruger New Vaquero (small frame). They shot very well but you must pay close attention to the OAL to be sure they will fit in the cylinder. The large framed Rugers has a cylinder that is a little longer and it is not as much of a OAL problem in them.

Do a search on Mt. Baldy 45 SAA bullets and there should be several discussions about them.

April 2007 Handloader magazine is one from the search and another is from Gunblast. Both are good, esp. the Handloader one.
