RCBS X-Die, What do you think?

I have the X-die for my 308. Have not run it enough to confirm. One thing you must do is trim the brass -0.020" short as per the instructions. Then it tells you to set die and not to adj it. My die is set to only push the shoulder back 0.002-0.003" so I should not get a lot of growth anyway.

I have a set in 260 Remington. They do work as advertised. As blue68 posted, you do need to trim .020" shorter than SAAMI max initially. After that, trimming is far between. If you do get a set, read the instructions thoroughly before setting the die up.

I have the set in .308 win. They do work as advertised but keep in mind that when the brass is growing it is flowing toward the neck of the case and no die on earth will flow that brass back to the case body. I have had a couple of my cases buckle a slight amount after 5 or 6 firings in the shoulder area. Just keep an eye out for that, also you don't have to use the "X" feature in the die, so it can be used as a standard resize die. It is the best of both worlds IMO and the option is nice if you choose to purchase it.

Thanks for the input. Sounds like they work as advertised, just follow the instructions carefully. I may give them a try.

Using it in .308 right now.... Loaded 10 test cases and have now loaded and fired them 14 times now. 2 cases have tiny neck splits....thats its. So two losses in 10+ loads is good in my book. If I had annealed like I normally do then they might not have split.

Oh yes this is also surplus mg fired brass.
