I got my new Guns and Ammo Magazine today and the mail and took it staight to its rightful place in the head.

There is an article on Page 82 titled "The Peoples' Pump" about NEF's Chinese-made shotgun. This article is such an obvious act of ^&*( it made me cringe.

My first thought, "Gee, that thing looks a lot like an 870." Nowhere in the article did it mention those magic three numbers -- 870. If someone is going to sell a clone or near clone, please give credit to the American classic original and to Remington.

I am left with some questions by this completely lacking article such as is this commie shotgun actually an 870 clone? Are parts compatible with an 870? How is the internal machining and quality of metal? What exactly is the finish?

What does Remington think of a commie clone coming into the country?

I know not to expect a lot from gun rags, but this supposedly editorial content was more "advertorial."

Payton Miller's exhaustive two-month test of a few rounds of clays and a late Texas hunt was also less than impressive. A Remington 870 Wingmaster or even an Express will last generations of hard field use if properly cared for. Ooooooh, two whole months in Texas -- sounds like torture to me!!!!!!!!!!!!

This thing was even nominated for Gun of the Year. What a joke.

If you need a pump shotgun, get the American-made genuine article, not some commie clone pimped in a gun rag.

I'm having a hard time dealing with this as well.

Especially when NEF is associated with H&R ...H&R is ...well...American Classic in and of itself. To many folks learned on, depended on a H&R Topper.

MILLIONS of 870's have been sold, and proven themselves in all sorts of enviroments, for all sorts of Tasks. Many a 30 or 40 yr old 870 is still doing duty. Same goes for the H&R Topper.

Take me back to Five & Dime Jimmy Dean...

In my short lifetime I have seen too many American Made guns "try" to best the 870...these failed...the 870 won. And the imports are gonna try this?

Stuff don't always bolt on. Production runs change a spec, such as what the Norico knock offs did.

I can take two 870's with 30 yrs difference in age...and the specs allow parts to swap.

Sigh...well at least I'm not the only relic it seems around here. :)

I quit buying or reading G&A a few decades ago. The commercialism and pimping did cause my gorge to rise and still does. The only reading worthwhile left in it is the Colonel, and he's available elsewhere.

As for the clone guns.....

Leaving out subsidizing the largest dictatorship left on Earth, there's a few concerns about the clone guns.

Metallurgy is suspect. Interchangeability of parts is also. Warranty work may be a cruel joke.

If there's one thing US gunmakers do well, it's making pump shotguns that last longer than the original owner, cost less than a week's pay for a working person, and have parts availability and aftermarket goodies from right here in the good ol' US of A.

Used US made pumps are often sold for less than the new ChiCom stuff.

Why settle for copies?....

I thought Norinco products were banned in the USA?

Regardless, it is a world economy, but allowing Norinco to sell products in the USA is not a good idea...for many reasons.

Maybe Walmart should sell them. They love selling American products. ;)
