I ve seen red dots sold for mosins and i question its usefulness? Wouldn't this limit the mosins effectiveness off range with the rifle. Or would it be ok on a shorter carbine m44/m38. whats yalls opinion ive seen them and just questioned them. so i was trying to get info.

I have a really cheap one on my M44 using a scope mount right where the old leaf sight was. I would have been happier with extended eye relief scope, but it seems to work well enough at 100 yards.

I put a scout scope on mine, but it was the NcStar 2-7X32(HUGE MISTAKE). It did not hold its zero so I had to take it off. I then switched to iron sights and could not be happier. I love irons on the Mosin now. No more scopes for me.
