Red dot on top or 45 angle

I'm thinking of getting this http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/default.aspx?productNumber=119257 I'd like to hear opinions on the merits/disadvantages of having a red dot on top of the scope like that on an AR. I thought about getting it and then mounting the red dot or just some iron sights at an angle to the side instead. Seems like it would give it a lower profile.

Better brush up on your trigonometry!

Actually, 45 degrees would be pretty easy.

You'll have to adjust both vertical and horizontal axis together.

It's entirely do-able. But something to consider.

I figure I can get two of these http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=336284 and mount one in back just behind the scope and one on the gas block picatinny rail. The rails on top of the gun are all lined up so as long as I use the same 45 adapter front and back it should work good. We'll see.

this is awsome i looked at that set up the other night for my ar 15 but i found the burris 332 prizm sight w bullet drop compesation 3x mag made just for the ar 15 and the 5.56 round. it will b much lighter then the scope w ff mounted on top and i saved a few clams. its going to get here in 4 more days will post how i like it. want to keep my ar15 light its 6.1 pounds empty out of the box. let us know what you think of the scope combo if and when you get happy shooting
