The little circle of red paint under the safety lever fell out of my blued, Interarms USA PPK. It fell out in one piece. A dry little paint disc.

What is best to use to repaint the red dot?

Paint marker, available at Home Depot, Wal-Mart, etc. Redid the red dots on my M9 a couple weeks ago. I've fired and cleaned it since then with no problems, and paints still there. For detail areas, such as the edge, use a wire keep the color in the lines.

A wire?

P.S. AFSOC SOW?

Thin guage. Found mine with scraps of electrical wire. Unfolded paper clip might work too.

USACAPOC CJPOTF

Just go buy model paint - Testors. That's what everyone typically uses - especially to repaint white dots on a sight.

If there is a depression where the dot goes - use a needle and dip it in the paint.

Then, let a drop or two drip off the needle. Then, put it over the spot you want. Get 1 drop to fall where it needs to. It usually will fill the depression perfectly.

If not - have some paint remover (they usually sell a small bottle of it by the model paint). Take the paint off and try again.

Sometimes it takes a couple of tries to get it right.

I have done this method many times.

+1 Wally World has it, Hobby Lobby, etc....BTW, I used a rd-nose toothpick for the slight drop...

If it happened to me

I think I would try red Loctite. Clean the spot with acetone, dry and apply Loctite, we know it sticks to metal and you can use the rest for other jobs.
Good luck.

dotd, safety dots, sit dots, any dots

drugstore makeup area - they have qtip like dodads with a pointed end and a flat end. 'harder" than qtips and also good for cleaning. cheap too, wife doesn't even mind when i steal them.

Good luck.

Loctite will never dry in air. It is chemically made as an anaerobic cure, takes a confined space with no air to cure/dry.

plusone and add that it is semi-transparent, hard to see color-wise against black metals unless you're really looking hard.

A bright nail polish (of a solid color) should do the trick, but get the surface clean for it to stick to.

That happens to me every time I get a little gun scrubber on the safety.

Clean it with paint thinner, then with acetone or alcohol, then use red fingernail polish. My wife usually has some bright red.

It sounds dumb but a red/orange crayon will probably do the trick. People use this to highlight markings on guns. I don't play dress up with my guns but it seems to give good results.

Model paint will work too, it's tough stuff. I've used it for painting sights.

Testor's Model Paint is the answer. It has been for years, in fact. :)

Agree, I just freshened up this spot on my Mak. I use the Model Masters Chrysler Engine Red. Clean all the oil out of the spot with alcohol for best sticking.
