Refinishing a Mosin Nagants stock to a "Russian Red" color.

Take into account that photos on the computer typically look a lot redder than they really are.

A lot of people are getting a good Russian Red using Minwax "Sedona Red" stain with polyurethane as a top coat.

Here is my version of "Russian red" and how I did it. Let me know if you like it and need more info. Its plenty red, but not obnoxious. In person it matches nearly a brazilian cherry color only slighlty more red.

I used "rosewood" water based stain by minwax (2 coats) and then rubbed "Barn" red from sherwin williams (Yes latex paint) on it. After letting the stain / paint dry, I clear coated it (Semi Gloss). After letting that dry for almost a week. I waxed the stock to give it a lower gloss.
