Hi all,

I'm about to buy my 1st pump shotgun, I've tried a couple at the gunstore, but I realized I'd like something not too heavy, I'll use it for HD but I'd like to have some fun with it shooting clays or similar. I'd also like to train my wife to use it in case of emergency.

Benelli M3 super90 felt heavy and not too handy
Maverick 88 was not lightweight either and estetically not too great
Benelli M2 was just all right, unfortunately it's a semiauto which would compel me to use rounds with a minum power treshold hence more costly

Any tips ? On the catalogues the speed pump (Winchester 1300) is advertised as lightweight, about 3 kg.

I do not need supermagnum capabilities.

Lightweight means more recoil. The LSI Escort pump shotguns made by Hatsan are lightweight and well made. They are basically the same gun as the HK FP6.

Hatsan pumps are getting popular here in Italy.

The speed pump I believe is used by Patrick flanigan in his 'acrobatic' displays.

That's sure good ad for the gun, even though the man is definitily a fluke.

I'm just going to go to the gunstore and enquire about the speedpump, prices and all, I'll let you know.

On a pump-gun, does light weight mean that the recoil does more of the pumping for you? This seems to be the case with Benelli inertia-operated guns (put too much junk on them, and they won't run), and the unusually light pump (the Winchester) reportedly ejects completely with full-tilt buck.
