i am searching for a repeating(autoloader)) shot gun with following features.

1. reliable

2. light weight(as much possible)

3. compact size(as much possible)

i want a shot gun for self defense , as i travel a lot on highways etc and in suburban and rural areas. The threat varies from small time criminals to big time hard core gangs.

anyways, there is high probability that i might have to use it , while seated in my car.
please advise ...

Very few of us have a "high probability" of using our weapons, unless criminals or in law enforcement.

Edited to add:

I should be a bit more serious.

The lightest, autoloading shotgun I can think of is a Benelli M2. There's not much to them, and they hurt like hell to shoot with buckshot or slugs.

I'd try to adjust my lifestyle before I started carrying a shotgun in my car.

When I am traveling, I carry a handgun. It is a 38 Taurus 85 in 38 cal. As I am a retired LEO with a federal ccw, I have no problems with the gendarmes in the various jurisdictions I travel through. I also carry a Nova 20 Gauge with a 24" barrel exposed unless I am leaving the car. I then toss a coat over it to keep prying eyes from wanting to "borrow" it. In the almost 20 years since I retired, I've had absolutely no problem with the bad guys or the LEOs anywhere. I always tell the cops that I come into contact with when going through traffic checks or traffic stops that I am armed. They sometimes, but not usually look at my permit. The biggest problem I have is that they want to carry on a conversation when I am in a hurry. All cops seem to enjoy exchanging war stories with a retired guy that has been there, done that.

I have had funny instances to occur in big cities when the "windshield washers" at the traffic lights want a donation and they observe the Nova. Their attention is diverted elsewhere but quick.

Beretta 1201fp, very light, short, aims beautifully and has super fast action cycling...
Bit hard on the shoulder with slugs though:)

I don't think he meant that he has a high probability of using it. I think he was saying that if he had to use it, he would have a high probabilty of using it while in his car. A shotgun would be a poor choice for this. That being said why not go balls to the wall and get an Ithaca 10ga Road Blocker?

Remington LT 20.

A shotgun for use in the car?

Taurus Judge 45/.410 revolver.

You are describing the Beretta 1200 series or Benelli M2. If you want to get esoteric you can get a Browning A5 lightweight and cut it down, but you will have a long recoil gun that you will have to pay attention to the friction rings with.
Back to the Beretta or Benelli.
