Has anyone tried to reload spent 308 blank brass, that is reload with a bullet, is it possible? Is the brass manufactured to the same specs other than the star crimp? Would it be as simple as removeing the crimped brass and trimming to size. Thanks

I am new to reloading and I am reading the abc's of reloading. In the beginning of the book it says not to reload blanks.

Some blank cases are full strength some aren't do you which is which?

Some blanks are made from cases which failed QA and some are made with soft case heads because a work hardening step is omitted - and some can be reloaded just fine. I don't know how to tell the difference. Do you?

Quick draw shooters have loaded blanks in great numbers for years. Try thieir sites. I know they use black powder in small amounts. When shooting ballons, they add a dab of cornmeal to break the ballon.

ClarkEMyers,

No, I wouldn't know how to tell the difference that's why I asked for helpful info. Are you saying that cases that don't meet QA are then somehow lengthend a 1/2 inch plus for the star crimp, that sure seems difficult. Thanks for trying to help.

Shoney,

This would be for a rifle round in 308, by that I mean taking a 308 spent blank and reloading a real 308 round bullet and all. Thanks for trying to help
