First, This will be the ONLY rifle round I will be loading. I have a Lee 4 hole classic turret press.
And here comes the questions: The powder I plan to use is either H4831 or H4350 and the bullet weight between 130-150 gr. Will the pro auto disk measure be able to throw enough powder in 1 charge or will i have to use the double disk setup? Next which die set: the standard (2 die) set or go with the deluxe 3 die set? (either set will be Lee).
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated! aj b
any of suggestions???

Ive loaded for the 270 for about 20 years now and use 4831SC for everything 130 to 150 grain weight bullets. Couldnt tell ya about the autodisk...I have a pro that I use for pistols only. The pro disk set MIGHT work with short cut powders, but thats something youll have to play with.
If youre going for the Lee dies, id recommend the 3 die set if youre loading for a bolt gun. Their neck sizer is a wonderful idea, using a collet to squeeze the neck down. And a bonus, you dont need lube to do it.
The only thing I did to the neck sizing die was to polish the mandrel. Chuck it in a drill and 000 steel wool shined it up really nice, and got a slightly better bullet pull too.

I have been reloading for my .270 Win.Fwt.for 20 years and finally settled on a 130 gr.Sierra Sp.Bt ahead of a* max* recommended load of IMR 4350.CCI 250 primer and Fed cases.
This load chronos at 3005 fps.from my 22 in.bbl. Ideal whitetail load.
** Nosler 5th.edition** This is higher than some books I would recommend you start at 50.0 Gr. (-10%)

Sorry not familiar with your setup. I shoot 130 Noslers pushed by 55.0 grains of IMR4350, Winchester cases and CCI primers in my Rem. 700 .270. My best group so far has been a 3-shot group I can cover with a dime.

I don't believe even the double disk will give you enough powder volume. Check the tables that came with the measure. I use a Lee Perfect Powder Measure with good results.

I don't think the double disk gives nearly enough powder for the 270, so you'd need to "double dump", a process that doubles the margin of error in each dump. I tried it once or twice and then switched to the Perfect Powder measure and trickler for all large rifle cases and haven't looked back. Only use the double disk for .223.

I primary use H4831sc for the 270 and have began development on RL22 (got to hate the hornady free bullet offer). This is with the hornady 130gn sp. It seems that most 270s like 130gn better than the 150s but you results may vary. I have the pro auto disk and it will not throw a heavy enough charge with one dump and Im sure that it wont do it with the double disk kit. as bison posted you will run into problems with consistant charges and may end up chasing the disks with the powder scale. I have good luck buy using a measure to get it close and trickle it up.

Forget about the Auto Disk. I love mine but it wasn't made for rifles.

I get the easiest consistent results from 130 gr bullets. But 140s work pretty well. I have had some good results with the 150 gr but they seem to be more sensitive to loading parameters.

Either H4831 or H 4350 can give good results, but it seems like the H 4350 is a bit more forgiving in finding the sweet spot for a given combo. I would start out with the H 4350. But there are a whole slew of folks out there that claim 4064 is unbeatable for 270. And then there are others who really like the Alliant versions. A lot of them work well. But 4350 is a good place to start.

I load 243Win, 30-06Spring, 223Rem, & 270Win. with mine. I have done a temporary mod to use the disk+charge at the same time. I will make the adapter as soon as I have a chance to get some brass stock.

This is a easy mod that makes working up a load easy.

If youre going for the Lee dies, id recommend the 3 die set if youre loading for a bolt gun.

What he said. And really, unless you're shooting huge volumes of ammunition, I'd steer clear of a progressive reloader for hunting cartridges such as the .270. Accuracy is all about consistency in handloading, and you'll get much better consistency if you weigh each powder charge individually.
Regarding loads, it's been a long time since I loaded for the .270, but I used to use Jack O'Connors favorite: H4831. I don't remember a bad load with it!

There was a young man, son of a late friend of mine, who laughed at my 270 and said it was an obsolete cartridge.

I told him I have dozens of deer cartridges to choose from and don't consider the sexy new cartridges as good as the 270.
