Rem 700 bdl vs cdl, etc.

Ok what's the difference? Is it just the stock and caliber offerings or are there any differences in the action, reciever, bolt or barrel?

After handling both in .30-06 at Gander Mountain yesterday the differences I seen other than the stocks where:

-BDL had open sights , CDL has no sights
-BDL had more of a traditional blue , CDL has more of a matted blued finish

The 700 long action is the same on both.

Then why do the police rifles and customs I see base there models on the BDL? According to the GA Precision website, this is what they base there guns on. Is there any advantage to 1 over the other?

BDl and CDL are the same actions. CDL is an improvement in looks over the BDL and in standard calibers has a 2" longer barrel length than BDL.
