I have a Rem 700 LTR (.308) with the 20" barrel. I shoot in a 1k match (with a different rifle) but I was wondering if there is anyone out there that has been very successful at 1000yards with this rifle? thanks in advance.....

with a 20" barrel your going to have real trouble keeping a bullet ballistic at 1000 yrds. when the bullet falls below the speed of sound it punches through the sound barrier and goes unstable, thus it will open your groups up from inches to feet just depending on the bullet you us. you will find that people that regulary shoot at 1k use rifles with 26" barrels as the mininum length. most likley the barrels will be in the 30" to 32" range. if you plan on shooting a bullet in the 150 gr. range it will have to leave the muzzle at 2,950 fps as the mininum velocity, a 168 gr bullet will need just over 2,700 fps. good luck with that short tube but it is more suited to the 600 yrd game than 1000 yrds.

20" of barrel will be pushing it a 1K. I've shot my M1A (22" barrel) at 1K and it barely makes it there supersonic. I was over max load to get that.

I hope you reload. A search shows that it has a 1/12 barrel. Try loading some 155gr match bullets of your choice. Berger and Lapua have the highest BC. Push them as hard as you can but be safe.

Thanks guys, I think I'm going to have to designate this rifle as my medium range gun and stick with my 300WM for the 1K stuff....thanks fellas.
