Remington Bullet Loads

Lacking specific data you should be fine using that for similar designed bullets (JHP) of the same weight and working up incrementally.

Don't know why some company doesn't do a test with Golden Saber bullets but even Remington who makes them doesn't supply data. Like D.Manley said, same weight jacketed bullet data can be used to work up loads and my limited testing shows that Hornady 124 XTP JHP data would be safe to use for working up loads. The driving band and bore diameter of the GS actually seems to produce less pressure than standard copper jacketed hollowpoints. One loader said it takes approximately two tenths more powder for the GS to equal velocity of copper jacketed and that is probably about right. Factory overall lengths of the 124 Golden Saber 9MM loads is from 1.120-1.125". With Unique powder and CCI 500 primers in Winchester and various other cases I've loaded from 4.8 to 5.1 grains of Unique with the Rem 124 GS in 9MM. Shoots good in 3 pistols and a carbine. 5.1 isn't maximum with Unique but is getting close to max. Just be cautious going above 5.1.

I've loaded and shot Rem GS in .38 spl, .357 mag, .45 acp and .9mm. I haven't ran any of the 9mm over the chrono but in the other 3 they perform velocity wise the same or slightly faster than standard JHP's from Hornady abd Remingotn standard JHP's that I'v compared them to.

Example. 357 mag w/ 125gr GS on top of 13.8 grs of Blue Dot chrono'd at 1,483 fps average from a 4" revolver while the same load with the XTP only did 1,490 fps from a 6".

A load of 6.2grs of Unique behind a Rem 230gr GS ran 852 fps while a Remington 230 gr FMJ RN shoot at 851 fps from the same pistol.

Is this bullet similar to Speer Gold Dots? Would Power Pistol be another good choice in powder?

Power Pistol is always a good choice of powder in the 9mm with jacketed bullets. It was after all originally a bulk powder developed to load 9mm ammo for the US military.

I don't care much for it in low pressure cartridges like the .45 acp and .38 spl.
