Lookin' through the Remington Law Enforcement catalog, I can't find a number for the 870P I want. Here's what I want:

1) 870P

2) Speedfeed Stock (not "speedfeed 1").

3) 18" barrel (or 18.5"..whatever it is).

4) +2 Mag extension

5) Ghost Rings.

It seems to me, that this exact shotgun is pictured on pg. 4 (p.11 in the gun and ammo le catalog) of the catalog, but there is no order number for it on pg. 5 (p.12 in full catalog). On pg. 5, there are only two guns listed with mag extensions; one has rifle sights, the other a bead sight. Basically I want gun "4449" but with the mag extension. So, when I go to my gun shop, which gun/order number should I give them? Or do I have to order gun 4449 "with the mag. extension"--meaning that there isn't a stock number for the gun I want. [?]

I think I answered this on another forum, but......

Basically, when you order the gun, you'll get the gun EXACTLY as described, which means NO magazine extension.

I'd email one of the Remington LE reps to find out the details, but I suspect the proper thing to do is to order the gun AND a magazine extension kit, then just assemble it yourself.

It's possible you can special order the gun of your choice with an extension installed, but I'd think the price won't be too good.

Best bet: Talk directly to Remington LE for the definitive word.

dfariswheel...I posted this on ARFCOM also. And, you're right. Which is kind of a pain due to the fact that the gun (a 4449 with a mag extension) is shown but not offered as a stock gun. As far as pricing, I don't know yet. I've got a couple of local shops checking on a price for me. Impactguns here in Utah offers the 4449 for $580 something, which I think is a little high. I'd say I'll be able to find in for about $500, plus the mag extension. Someone on the other forum (you dfaris?)said to order a factory parked +2 mag extension from Remington at the same time I order the gun. I don't know how much that will be. Anyone?

Dang, $113. It would probably be cheaper to buy the model with the mag. extension without the ghost rings. How much are the rings (or some cheaper after market rings)? I can get the gun tapped locally for maybe 40 bucks. Now, I guess I'm going to be looking into the price of ghost rings. That 590 Mossberg with the mag extension and the ghost rings for $390 is lookin' better and better.

ADD: maybe not. The Remington ghost rings are around $160. Which all goes back to my original issue. Why don't they just make a stock 870p with all this included? And don't tell me about the $800 plus model with the surefire light. I think that is a little overkill...the price anyway.

I just thought I would mention that Brownells only charges $90.48 for the

mag extension, if you have a C&R license. Every little bit helps. :)

I'd STILL recommend contacting Remington first.
It possible they sell what you want but don't list the option.

In any event, likely you can get the gun you want from Remington cheaper than by buying pieces and assembling it.

No knock on the Mossberg, but you'll probably regret buying the Mossberg Chevy instead of the Remington Police Cadillac.
