A friend of mine is wanting to trade his H and R .223 for a Remington 700 VTR .223. Im sure they are amazing because they are a rem 700. but i was just wanting to no if anyone has any experience they would like to share about the VTR. thanks

I picked one up in 308 a little while ago. Hasn't been out to the range yet. These darn 60+ hour workweeks are killing me right now. I'm hoping soon to see how it shoots. Already have a bi-pod for it and I put on a Leupold VXIII in 4.5-14x50

I am also in the market for one they have been pretty hard to find around here lately. I am looking for a .308 though.

Central Texas has a lot of em. but they are proving to be not as accurate as the regular 700sps. I've seen 4 of them in action 223 22-250 and 2 308's. I would spend less and get more with the round barrel options

I got one in 22-250 last summer.

Sub MOA all day with handloads.

I wouldn't say its any better or worse than any other 700...

It all depends on what he plans on using it for. I use mine for coyote hunting and it has excelled at that. The rigidity of a bull barrel with less weight, plus the muzzle break eliminates 99% of muzzle jump so you get to see the bullet impact. Its all good for its intended purpose.
