I was wondering, is it possible and/or advisable to disable the decocker in the FS series of the Beretta Cheetah? I know the BB series had a safety with no decocker, so in theory, I feel like it would be a drop in operation (for a gunsmith, at least).

I only ask because I feel like an 85FS with a BB series safety carried cocked and locked would be a great little carry piece, and I have a thing against DA/SA. Anyone even tried?

I'd call Beretta customer service and ask them. I know HK makes 9 or so variants of their pistols to suit customer requirements and converting them from one to the other requires the proper set of parts. I wouldn't trust anyone but the MFG to do the conversion unless they publish a parts list for conversion and I've not seen that from anyone but HK in the past. (I reserve the right to be uninformed on this point.)

HKguns, I agree that beretta would know best, but since such a mod was never an option, I doubt they would say anything to condone such a mod. Liability and all.

If I read your post correctly they do offer a model with the configuration you desire, right?

I don't know FS from BB unfortunately.....However, if they do offer it as a configuration they likely could change it to the configuration you desire.

If BB is some other model then you're out of luck and I'd not recommend a bubba job that could prove to be a safety issue down the road. It isn't worth the potential nightmare down the road, to me, when there are plenty of pistols on the market that would probably suit your needs.

Some versions have firing pin safeties and others don't so you'll have that to contend with also. I imagine it could be done but how easy, who knows. This link may be helpful to you.

PS.....or buy a CZ-82 and have exactly what you want. C&L or hammer down. Two guns are better than one, right. : ) ..... I own both and they're very similar and both are tack drivers!

Calling Beretta will not offer any help. They are the factory, and they will not recommend any modifications outside of the design specs.

Go ask at the Beretta Forum.
