Repairmen in your home: advice?

Throwing a sheet over your safe is a good practice for every day. Sadly, a year ago we had a break in. The burglar never looked at my safe.

When the police were looking around I mentioned that I had a safe. The cop said he didn't see it. He was standing right next to it, looking at it. Being covered, he just didn't make the connection that a big covered object was a safe. His mind probably assumed it was old furniture or a defunct refrigerator or something.

Basic camouflage makes a big difference. Always keep the safe covered.

I reccomend that any high dollar item you own that is kept in your garage be covered with white sheets.
That door will open and close a hundred or so times a month, you have no control over who is looking in as they drive by.
Try this to prove my point:
Leave your stuff uncovered and look in the garage from the street.
Now cover your stuff with sheets and go back and look again.
Most of the time those items will be nearly invisible to you even though you know where they are and thats what you want.
Most people with a garage door opener dont know that a skilled burglar with a coat hanger can have your garage door open in about 10 seconds. A half dozen old sheets are cheap insurance.
