Repeating Tactical Crossbow

Considering how easily he cocked that first one I doubt it has much punch at all. A toy more than anything.

"...based on an old Chinese design..." Yep. The Chinese bow was a great big thing. Made to be used from castle walls. It was a crew served, gravity mag fed, bolt action.
Watched a guy who had built one, shooting it, long ago. Every cycle(back and forth) of the 'op handle' cocked it, loaded it and fired a bolt. Slick as hell, but no accuracy. Lots of bolts in the air though. Mind you, when fighting off besieging hordes, that'd be a good thing.
"...a commercial source for a repeating crossbow..." None. If you want one, you'll have to make it and forget about hunting with it.

Some of the fancier Chinese repeating crossbows actually had two magazines and two grooves, so they could shoot two bolts at once!

None of them had much power at all, so the bolts were usually poisoned.

I've seen those for sale. They're available in 50 and 80 pound draw weights, IIRC. The fully automatic one is a 45 pound draw weight, I think.

The Weapons Masters TV show on the military channel had a show about the Chinese repeating crossbow last year.

They went to China and filmed a shop still making them.
Seems it was a easily made & cheap weapon used by peasants to defend walls.

Bottom line was they were so completely underpowered as to be no more then a nuisance unless using poison tip bolts. Even then, most of the bolts appeared to be unstable and hit the target going sideways or backward.
