repro mosin nagant scope

Anybody have any experience with the firefield reproduction mosin nagant scope? Is this basically the scope that come on the $499 mosin "snipers"? My uncle is a machinist and can make me a mount and turn down the bolt. If this is basically the same set up I could have one for basically $250. Any ideas, comments, suggestions?
