Hope this is the right forum for this ?

Where might I be able to find information on the resale/trade value of a Thompson Center Arms contender pistol? It's setup for .223 with a Burris 7X scope on it and I've finally managed to convince my wife that she should sell it and get herself a decent carry pistol. Her current carry is a Colt Combat Commander MK IV Series 80 in .38 Super. Almost impossible to find ammo for and when I can find it it's ridiculously expensive. Another factor is the fact that she weighs maybe 110 lbs soaking wet and the pistol is almost as big as she is. :)
Any help (as well as a reccomendation on a good 9mm carry piece) would be greatly appreciated.

There are many excellent carry guns in 9mm from which to choose. The 9mm compact market is flooded with great carry pieces.

There's nothing wrong with a Combat Commander in .38 Super, though. I'd carry that gun in a heartbeat. Granted, ammo costs are a concern with .38 Super.

Take your wife toa gun store and let her fondle a bunch of guns, but make sure they have a good selection. I can recommend the SIG P239, Kahr P9 or K9, S&W 3913 "Ladysmith", CZ-75 PCR, Glock 19 and 26, and Beretta 9000S, to start with a few.

I agree with lendsringer on both points.

Corbon and a couple of other companies make a reall good carry load in .38 super.

I am in total agreement with him on the compact 9mms he listed. Any one of those should work quite well for her.

lendringser,

Putting "...and sell lendringser the .38 Super" in white letters on a white background might be a little too subliminal, don'tcha think? ;)

For someone who wants one like yours $450 would be a good price. But those people may be hard to find. You might want to sell the Frame with the grip on Gunbroker or AuctionsArms for about $220 and then sell the barrel with the mounted scope and forend on eBay. The parts will sell faster than then the whole gun and those eBay people pay high prices.

Hey guys, thanks for the help and the welcome.
As for the CC, as much as I wouldn't mind seeing it go (I just don't like .38s in general) I don't think she'd ever consent to selling it. My personal carry is an Enduring Freedom Army Edition Beretta and to be honest I'd really rather have an older 1911 in .45 but.....convincing the other half that I should have an armory AND a race car might be a bit difficult at this early stage of our marriage. :)
Anway, hope to make plenty of friends here as well as learn lots of new and interesting things.
